Actually, this was when Mihawk was discussing Luffy to Shanks after fighting Zoro. So it's very early in the series, but not too long from when Shanks intervened in Marineford. A couple of months probably.

OP: Oda's art style has progressively changed over the years, and the anime followed suit. Look at Luffy from Romance Dawn and compare him to now; he looks different, as well. The most noticeable out of the Strawhats, though, is probably Robin.

That's just Oda's style changing over the years. In the beginning, the character had more cartoonish look. Now they don't. Proof? Look at all the other characters.

He changed the pic, the original pic was when shanks was skinny and still had his strawhat. I'm aware of when that took place.

1st pic he bein funny and is in a joke state, 2nd pic he's serious and showing he's ready to destroy whoever thinks they can face him. The second pic is also a wide shot so the neck is kinda exaggerated coz of the framing.

No. Their both pre-skip footage. The first pic was when Luffy received his first bounty.


OT: Shanks didn't really change his appearance. The art in One piece got a whole lot better and Oda just drew him with a serious expression since he went to marineford.
