When it comes to SM ,Kyuubi was a pain in the ass.He had to use a big amount of his chakra to keep the seal in place and he couldnt fuse with Ma and Pa for infinite SM.

Learning Sage Mode would have actually been easier without the Kyuubi.

Ma and Pa could've attached their selves on Naruto which could've helped his training.

According to Naruto wiki, Naruto's reserves without Kurama are 4X that of Kakashi's. I'd think that's significant enough for SM. Plus, I think people are misinterpreting Kurama's role with Naruto's stamina. I think he converts Kurama's chakra to his own to replenish chakra he lost to delay fatigue. SM requires high reserves to begin with.
