I pretty sure people have already made this argument but I want to express my perspective.
Obito haters always call Obito emo for the same reasons. "He started a war for a girl who friendzoned him". But Obito never had any support to snap him back into shape when he lost his way. Naruto too had instances of weak resolve, but he was lucky to not have Madara brainwash him.
During the Pain invasion arc Naruto lost control after seeing Hinata get fodderized, and in that moment of weakness Kurama nearly convinced Naruto to remove the seal. If Minato hadn't stopped Naruto this series would already be over. Madara used that moment of weakness to manipulate Obito.
During the Sasuke Sai arc Orochimaru simply said "my Sasuke" and Naruto went 3 and eventually 4 tails. If Yamato wasn't there who knows how far that could've gone. And Sasuke is worse than rin, at least Rin cared about Obito, Sasuke doesn't give a f*** about Naruto.
We all remember how Naruto looked when Neji was pricked to death by splinters. He looked like he was lost, but Hinata was right there AGAIN to save his ass.
My point being that Naruto fans make him sound all strong willed and mighty when it's his comrades that helped him keep his ninja way. He could've easily been Obito. (He does fanboy over Sasuke afterall) Obito was just put in a really bad situation.
Hell if I was handicapped while also stuck underground with a crazy rambling old man talking about how Hashi fodderized his loser ass and a bunch of walking steroids call zetsu and months later when I FINALLY get out I witness my friend kill the girl I love I'd go insane too.
