She's the best candidate, among the K11 at least. (now that Neji's dead the term still applies...)
Naruto: He is hellishly strong, true. But he just ISN'T mentally ready. Smarts in combat do not translate well to organizational and administrative skill.
If they did, we'd elect presidents and prime ministers through extended cage-matches. I wouldn't trust Naruto to take care of a pet, without help. The boy couldn't take SCHOOL seriously, and now he's supposed to take care of thousands of people?
Which is not to say he's dumb. Not at all. But Naruto's character-arcs throughout either part 1 or part 2 have NOT prepared him for the realities of the Hokage's hat. Wandering with Jiraiya, meditating with the Toads, overcoming his own hatred and darkness, recognizing the Bijuu as comrades...
He'd make a pretty good Sage, I bet.
Sasuke shows more promise. (Let's just not bring up his troubled past, shall we?) He's almost as strong as Naruto in direct combat, and is more traditionally intelligent. He has focus. He has determination. He would do what he figured was best for the village.
He just has no subtlety.
Sasuke charges straight at the problem and doesn't hide his intentions. He can be subtle. In combat. Otherwise he has all the subtlety of a malevolent brick to the face, which is a horrible trait for what's essentially a political position. BUT, Sasuke would be a SCARY opponent for anyone threatening Konoha.
As a commander of ANBU, Sasuke would shine, just like Amaterasu doesn't.
Sakura, though, is the most combat-capable of the K11, apart from Naruto and Sasuke. She outshines them both, though, in book-smarts and even the practical applications of knowledge. She became a full-fledged doctor, surgeon AND poison-specialist in THREE YEARS. Second only to Tsunade, and possibly not even her. Which is an INCREDIBLE intellectual and practical achievement. If Narutoverse medicine is anywhere near as complex as ours, it's an INSANE one.
She is book-smart, incredibly focused and insanely competent. She is the sole apprentice of a previous Hokage, and who's to say she didn't learn some politicking during her time under Tsunade?
So, do you agree that Sakura the best candidate for Hokage?
Edit: Shikamaru. Sure, he's smart, he's competent. But inspiring? Hell no. Would Shikamaru work his ass off every day, every week, every year? HELL no. Shikamaru is badass, but that's just not how he's built.
