We, the readers, know nothing about Rin. Therefore, when Obito's motivation is about Rin.. it's damn near stupid. If we knew more about Rin, then Obito's feelings would portray onto the readers.

Agree that's why this chapter was so boring. Let's be honest, Rin is the reason why Obito keeps going strong. Otherwise, Obito would be a fretting puppy against Minato, Sasuke, and Naruto.
