We're all well aware that Fukasaku and Shima are the two great sage toads and we know they're the ones who helped both Jiraiya and Naruto achieve Sage Mode. However, what's more interesting about them is their age(over 800 years old, much older than the village system and the like) and the possibilities of who they trained and fought alongside in the past.
What we know is they've fought alongside Jiraiya, Naruto and possibly Minato, as Gamabunta and Fukasaku both note that they saw Minato and Jiraiya alongside Naruto
Now, where my interest is peaked is in learning about the possibilities of who Fukasaku and Shima have fought with before. Despite it being revealed Jiraiya has actually used the sage mode multiple times in the past
Which means that Jiraiya had never been pushed that far in battle before, but Fukasaku and Shima have(and it's not something they attempt right off the bat either, as they never brought it up until they realized they couldn't win in a taijutsu/ninjutsu confrontation with the paths)..the only question is..with who? Could Hashirama's sage mode have some sort of link to Mount Myoboku and have fought alongside them in the past? Maybe it could have been Minato, though the only reputation he's ever had is as the Konoha's yellow flash, and despite Fukasaku's statement, the only toad he's ever summoned is Bunta(to our knowledge, anyway).
It's probably something that will never be explained, but I find it fun to ponder anyway.
