EDIT: I Agree!!

The eye of enlightenment(the third eye) is the sixth chakra. Some are born with this chakra open, other need to work on it. It's the way to self realization and reflection and the conscious discovery of what your "self" is made of. The Sage would have had this chakra open before even thinking about his way/path.

The second one is the eye of the Bodhisattva. That way is inherent to the sage as well as it is to Naruto, Hashirama and anyone who understands the Bodhisattva way. It comes after the first steps of enlightenment(there are four). He could his dojutsu from this, considering he has six rings, but I doubt it.

The third one is the Rinnegan. It it to see what suffering is, in all six realms. You need to break down suffering to understand what it is and does(separation of the Bijuu, perhaps). The Sage was able to take in the suffering of the Juubs without actually suffer himself. Suffering is much like a spoon of salt. if your heart is like a cup of water, the water will be undrinkable, if your heart is like a river, it becomes drinkable. Higher lamas(teachers) like the Dalai(Ocean) Lama(teacher) are able to take in much suffering. The sage was a Bodhisattva the least(six rings). The Buddha always smiles, because it doesn't matter how much suffering he takes in, he is not affected by it. He transforms it. The Juub had a different eye than the Rinnegan. I think it's because of that transformation.

jesus.. I did want to say something but lost it at the 5th page.

Ow, yeah. i agree with the hair issue, however I question Kishi´s logic in the sense that if somebody absorbs a massive amount of energy and then later the totality of this foreign energy is transfered, why do the remaining life force in the jinchuuriki, in this case the RS diminish.
In the case of Nagato it´s obvious he exhausted his chakra, but I mean, the senin just pooped tailed beasts (and though it´s sure no easy job), why would he be left chakra emptied?

Whatever.. nice job count ObiTo xD

Wow like always your theories have so much flesh to them. #8 is my personal favourite theory about the doujutsus, I think that the way Naruto is going its possible that Naruto could unlock a new doujutsu such as the ones you listed, it would very interesting if it happened, just have to wait and see.

I would like to share the third volume of the synthesis of my theory that Rikudou Sennin/The Sage of the Six Paths was an Uzumaki. I hope you enjoy reading them, thanks!

1. The Ancient Urabe Clan Was Kishimoto's Inspiration For The Uzumaki Clan

The Uzumaki Clan was inspired from one of the four ancient sacerdotal (priestly) clans of Japan: The Urabe Clan of Tsushima Island:

You must be registered for see images

Tsushima Island is an isolated island situated near the Tsushima Strait between the borders of Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

Much like Uzushiogakure which is an isolated island located in the Land of Eddys:

You must be registered for see images

The now extinct Urabe Clan was an ancient priestly clan who practiced a form of Shintoism known as "Ryobu Shinto" also known as "dual aspect Shinto". The term refers to the mixing of Shintoism with Buddhism and Confucianism, incorporating concepts like Samsara, Nirvana, Dharma, Bodhisattva, etc.

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

But what made the Urabe Clan famous was their particular type of mystic skill: the esoteric form of tortoiseshell divination known as Kiboku

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images
Kiboku is done by placing magic seals (Machigata) on the underside of tortoiseshell fragments

Much like the Uzumaki Clan who were known for their Sealing Jutsus:

You must be registered for see images

The Urabe Clan was so famous for their divination skills that they were imported from their island into the mainland and appointed to the Department of Divinities (Jingi-kan) of the Imperial Court.

Like the Uzumaki Clan who was invited to forge an alliance with Konoha:

You must be registered for see images

and imported Kushina to become Kurama's Jinchuuriki:

You must be registered for see images

The present day shrines of Tsushima Island are known for their Kagura Ritual Performances:

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

The Uzumaki Kagura Mask that was found in the Uzumaki Mask Temple is specifically a Hannya Mask:

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

The Hannya Mask (般若) takes it's name from the Sino-Japanese word for prajna or wisdom, the mask was named as such because the Perfection Sutras (Hannya Scroll) were effective against demons.

You must be registered for see images

The Prajnaparamita or the Hannya-Haramitta speaks of the Six Perfections to become a Bodhisattva aka a Sage, a Sennin

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

The Six Perfections Are:

1. Dāna pāramitā: generosity
2. Śīla pāramitā : virtue
3. Kṣānti (kshanti) pāramitā : patience
4. Vīrya pāramitā : diligence
5. Dhyāna pāramitā : contemplation
6. Prajñā pāramitā : wisdom, insight

He who has followed the Six Perfections becomes a Bodhisattva, a Sennin.

The Bodhisattva then has mastery of the Six Realms/Paths also known as Rokudō 六道

1. Naraka Path
2. Preta Path
3. Animal Path
4. Asura Path
5. Human Path
6. Deva Path

Much like Rikudou Sennin who is the Sage of the Six Paths:

You must be registered for see images

And an Uzumaki.

2. Why Rikudou Sennin's Appearance Is Hidden

Have you ever wondered why the Rikudou Sennin is always hidden in silhouette?

You must be registered for see images

And that Kishimoto only showed him in non-silhouette form when he was already old and dying?

You must be registered for see images

His two sons, The Uchiha and Senju Ancestors, have been shown full-face even if they have not properly appeared yet in the storyline:

You must be registered for see images

So why is it Kishimoto is hiding the appearance of the Sage?

Some speculate it's because he looks like Naruto, however I don't think that is the case.

First and foremost, the Bijuus particularly Kurama would have recognized Naruto and Rikudou's physical resemblance, and yet prior to the merit of Naruto's actions (uniting the Bijuus) there was no indication that Kurama and co. recognized Naruto's physical similarities with the Sage's, or Kurama would have been friends earlier on with Naruto, which they weren't, it was only after uniting them that they recognized Naruto as Rikudou's successor:

You must be registered for see images

So if it is not a physical similarity with Naruto, then what is it? what is it that Kishimoto is hiding from us readers?

The answer I think is this, it is because Rikudou Sennin had red hair.

You must be registered for see images

Think about it, Kishimoto made all pure-blooded Uzumakis have red hair, that in itself indicates he made the Uzumaki trademark important for a purpose. Rikudou Sennin in his youth, before sealing the Juubi and before separating it into the 9 Tailed Beasts had hair of crimson red, the symbol of tremendous life force.

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

In fact, the overexertion of an Uzumaki's chakra turns their hair from crimson red to ashen white like Nagato:

You must be registered for see images

That is why Kishimoto only showed Rikudou's image when he was already old and dying, his hair had turned white after exhausting his Chakra:

The extraction of the Juubi from his body and its' division into the 9 Bijuus:

You must be registered for see images

And the creation of the Sealing Stone of the Gedo Mazo: The Moon

You must be registered for see images

That would render Rikudou's hair white like Nagato's:

You must be registered for see images

But prior to that, the Rikudou Sennin's hair was definitely red:

You must be registered for see images

It is also worthy to note that Rikudou Sennin was able to survive the extraction of the Juubi from himself and was even shown talking to them.

You must be registered for see images

Much like Kushina who survived the extraction of Kurama from her body:

You must be registered for see images

It is only logical to conclude that becoming the Juubi's Jinchuuriki necessitates Rikudou Sennin having tremendous life force upon sealing the Juubi inside himself, something akin to the tremendous life force of the Uzumakis.

You must be registered for see images

Even if the Manga is not colored, if Kishimoto shows the Sage's appearance fully, then the Anime must still render the color of the Sage's hair.

Like the Elder and Younger Sons:

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

If the Sage was shown full face like his sons, then his hair color in the anime and official source materials would be divulged as red. Thus making it a dead giveaway that Rikudou Sennin is an Uzumaki.

Some might be skeptical of these evidences, the same way others were skeptical that Tobi=Obito because they had the same hair:

You must be registered for see images

And that the socket of Tobi's mask is on the side where Obito's eye was intact after he gave the other one to Kakashi's:

You must be registered for see images

But we must approach this Manga with an open mind, Kishimoto has been giving us many subtle hints that Tobi=Obito long before the revelation in ch.599

You must be registered for see images

If we did not bash the Obito theorists before then we would not have been misled into thinking Tobi was Izuna,Kagami,Shisui, Elder Son or Time-Traveler Sasuke from the future.

Many did not accept the fact that Tobi=Obito, not because it was implausible or untrue, but because it was too obvious

As obvious as the Rikudou Sennin being an Uzumaki.

3. The Shinigami Of The Shiki Fuujin

The Shinigami of the Shiki Fuujin is specifically a Hannya Demon named after the Hannya Mask used in Kagura Ritual Performances in Shinto Shrines:

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

(The mask itself was named after the word 般若 Hannya meaning "Wisdom" taken from the Hannya-Haramitta Scroll that speaks of the Six Perfections to become a bodhisattva aka a Sage/Sennin like Rikudou Sennin)

What is peculiar however with the Shiki Fuujin's Shinigami is that while the Shinigami is Shinto:

You must be registered for see images

The Shinigami of RDS is holding and using a Buddhist Prayer Bead called a Japa Mala used by Buddhist Priests in chanting and prayers

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

(The Shinigami itself appears to be chanting a prayer)

You must be registered for see images

Like I've hypothesized before, the Uzumaki Clan was based on the Urabe Clan that adhered to Ryobu Shinto which is Shintoism that incorporates Shingon Buddhism:

The Uchiha Clan symbolizes Shintoism only (Susanoo,Amaterasu,Izanami,Izanagi, etc.)

You must be registered for see images

While the Senju Clan symbolizes Buddhism only:

You must be registered for see images

The Uzumaki Clan however represents both Shintoism and Buddhism:

The Triple Spiral Appeared in the Uzumaki Temple:

You must be registered for see images

The Triple Spiral is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) spiritual symbols dating back to prehistoric times.

The Triple Spiral is said to represent the three realms Land, Sea and Sky, it also represents family relationship in trinitarian symbolism:

4. Clarifications Regarding Zetsu's Statement

There is a great misconception in Zetsu's statement in chapter 606 saying that Nagato is a descendant of the Senjus because he is of Senju Lineage:

You must be registered for see images

It is not Zetsu's statement that is erroneous but the interpretation of others, if we take the translation of lineage based on the context of Zetsu's statement in conjunction with Kushina's statement in a previous chapter, the most accurate meaning of lineage, based on context, is the anthropological definition of the word: Kinship/Consanguinity:

You must be registered for see images

Kushina said the Uzumakis and Senjus were distant relatives, the true intended meaning of the word "lineage" based on the context of Zetsu's statement was : Consanguine of being related by blood, not Nagato descending from the Senjus : Nagato is a blood relative (lineage) of the Senju.

If the Senjus and Uzumakis descended from the same ancestor (Younger Son) then they will be close/immediate relatives, not distant relatives like Kushina said, which would contradict her statement and Manga canon, so it's logical to assume that the present day Uzumakis are "cousins" to both Senju and Uchiha since they did not descend from Rikudou himself but from Rikudou's relatives.

Also the original Japanese text of Zetsu in 606 is this:

You must be registered for see images

The original Japanese word that Zetsu used was "血縁" or Ketsuen which translates as "Blood Relative" NOT 子孫 or Shison which means descendant.

Anyone who can read Japanese will tell you that Zetsu's statement only meant blood relations but not pertaining to descent:

5. Kishimoto's Inspiration Behind Rikudou Sennin Meeting Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto City:

You must be registered for see images

Where the famous Naruto whirlpools are found:

You must be registered for see images

Is located in Shikoku Island

You must be registered for see images

In this island was born a priest named Kukai:

You must be registered for see images

Kukai was the founder of Shingon Buddhism, The Urabe Clan which the Uzumaki Clan was based from practiced Ryobu Shinto also known as Shingon Shinto which is the incorporation of Shintoism with the Shingon sect of Vajra Buddhism:

You must be registered for see images

When Kukai was nearing his death, he retreated to the mountains:

You must be registered for see images

And entered an Eternal Samadhi which is a mystical form of mental concentration:

You must be registered for see images

He did this to avoid death so that he could await and meet his successor, the Maitreya Bodhisattva:

You must be registered for see images

This I believe is Kishimoto's inspiration for Naruto meeting Rikudou Sennin inside his subconscious like Minato and Kushina did, Naruto is Rikudou's successor and Rikudou most probably stored his chakra essence inside Kurama and the Bijuus so that one day he could meet the person who had united them, his successor Naruto:

You must be registered for see images

6. The Power Of Names: The Juubi and the Bijuus

We know that the Rikudou Sennin after dividing the Juubi and creating the Bijuus gave each of them a name:

You must be registered for see images

And that Naruto learned these names:

You must be registered for see images

Tobi/Obito doesn't know the Bijuus' True Names

You must be registered for see images

So by extension, Madara most probably doesn't know them either:

You must be registered for see images

I think there is a hidden power in the Bijuus' true names.

It is called Kotodama 言霊 or "Word Soul/ Word Spirit

It is an ancient Japanese belief that mystical powers reside in words or names.

One of the most prominent tale of the use of Kotodama concerns the Sun Goddess Amaterasu uttering Divine Word/ Kotodama and giving birth to deities:

You must be registered for see images

In Naruto, a prominent example of the use of Kotodama is found in the Treasured Tools of Rikudou Sennin particularly the Benihisago:

You must be registered for see images

"The Benihisago is able to take a person's word soul (言霊, kotodama) hostage by saying the verbal command "record" (録音しろ, rokuonshiro). After the word soul has been drawn out by the Kōkinjō and then severed from their body by the Shichiseiken, it is absorbed into the gourd. Completing these conditions "curses" the victim; if they utter the word they have said the most during their life, they will be sucked into and trapped within the Benihisago. Saying a homophone of their most frequently spoken word, or even saying nothing at all for a certain amount of time, will also trigger the gourd's suction."

In western religion and folklore the concept of Kotodama is called "True Names"

In Scandinavian Mythology, water spirits called Nix could be defeated by calling their names:

You must be registered for see images

In Kabbalism, the invocation of the true name of God was said to give the speaker power over creation:

You must be registered for see images

In Occultism, It is said that invoking the True Name of a Demon allows the speaker to summon and bind the demonic spirit.

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

I think the Juubi's Final Form has a consciousness/personality, and much like Kurama and the Bijuus, it probably has a True Name itself (though not conferred by Rikudou rather a True Name it calls itself) unlike its' numerous titles/aliases:

You must be registered for see images

If the Juubi indeed has a true name, Kishimoto will most probably take inspiration from Japanese myths what to name it.

Two of the most probable names are:

1. Amatsu-Mikaboshi 天津甕星 The Primordial God of Darkness/Evil in Japanese Mythology. Also known as the "August Star of Heaven"

You must be registered for see images

2. Sōjōbō

You must be registered for see images

It is said that the Ancient Ninjas of Japan trace their heritage from the Tengus, one such Tengu stood above all others, the God-King Tengu of Mount Kurama: Sojobo:

You must be registered for see images

The image of Sojobo in the manga was first seen in the Fire Temple:

You must be registered for see images

Sojobo was the King of the Tengus and resided in the forest of Mount Kurama, it is said that the legendary warrior Ushiwaka-maru was taught by Sojobo in the arts of swordsmanship, magic and mysticism.

You must be registered for see images

I don't think Naruto, nor Kurama or the Bijuus know the true power of their names, it is more likely that Rikudou Sennin was the only one who knows how to use their Kotodama, so it's possible that the Bijuus' True Names will play a vital role in defeating the Juubi. It is most likely that Rikudou Sennin will teach Naruto how to use the Kotodama when he appears inside Naruto's subconscious.

7. Juubito's True Intention

There is a reason why Juubito, after breaking the barrier, immediately went to Gamakichi's location:

You must be registered for see images

And there is also a reason why Hiruzen wasn't targeted by Juubito:

You must be registered for see images

It is because Hashirama and Tobirama weren't the true targets of Juubito, they were only getting in the way:

You must be registered for see images

The true target is Naruto.

But why is that? why Naruto alone?

You must be registered for see images

It is because of this:

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

The Juubi, controlling Obito, is after its original target: Naruto

You must be registered for see images

UPDATE/CONFIRMATION

The target truly was Naruto:

8. The Rinnegan, The Bosatsugan And The Satorigan

The source of the Rinnegan can be no other than the Juubi itself, which is the source of all Chakra and the progenitor of the world:

You must be registered for see images

The Rinnegan, which is the Doujutsu that is able to use all Ninjutsu must logically come from the Juubi which is the source of all Chakra that fuels Ninjutsu.

The Rinnegan literally translates as the Eye of Samsara, aka the Eye of Suffering.

The Rikudou Sennin's suffering is that of containing the Juubi inside himself as its Jinchuuriki:

You must be registered for see images

In Obito's case however, it is the Juubi who is in control of its Jinchuuriki, and not the other way around:

You must be registered for see images

Not to mention that the sealing was that of an incomplete Juubi:

You must be registered for see images

The Rikudou Sennin awakened the Rinnegan when he suffered to contain the Juubi inside himself, that is why it is called the Rinnegan, The Eye of Samsara: The Eye of Suffering:

You must be registered for see images

If the Rikudou Sennin had always had the Rinnegan or was born with the said Doujutsu then it would be called the
Bosatsugan: The Eye Of The Bodhisattva aka the Eye of the Sage/Sennin

You must be registered for see images

If the Rikudou Sennin acquired the Rinnegan through learning, meditation or enlightenment then the Doujutsu would be called the Satorigan: The Eye Of Enlightenment

You must be registered for see images

How long did it take you to write this?

Seriously. You must have a lot of time on your hands.

Everything else I agree with, But I still don't agree that the sage acquired the rinnegan after absorbing the juubi. If you think the sage learned the secrets of ninjutsu because of the rinnegan, then that means he didn't know ninja techniques as we know of before he fought the juubi. How the hell would he beat the juubi without this knowledge. As I've said before also, just because it's called the rinnegan doesn't mean he had to have gotten it after. The other eye names don't mean anything, kishi obviously takes inspiration from shintoism/buddhism, but that doesn't mean he follows everything exactly. The bijuus themselves are an example of this, they don't match up perfectly with the real myth of the bijuus, the rinnegan doesn't have to either.

One way or another the Rinnegan came from the Juubi, if Rikudou had it prior to sealing Juubi then it only means the Juubi itself gave the Rinnegan to him because they once shared a master-student relationship (akin to Sojobo and Ushiwakamaru) only to have a falling out in the end, reverse parallelism: Naruto and Kurama were enemies who became friends, Rikudou and Juubi were friends who became enemies.
