[Discussion] Other than the power levels, what's so great about dbz?

I know I'm gonna get a lot of flak for posting this but still DBZ is not that strong plot-wise or character-depth-wise...

I'll agree that DBZ isn't as good plot-wise as some other animes or manga but the plot is still amazing. With so many different characters, true villains and places, DBZ still has a plot that anyone would love. DBZ's action is usually what outclasses other mangas. Have you ever watched the original DragonBall series? An amazing plot all the way through with the amazing action, the plot in DragonBall far exceeds its sequel.

It was just epic. It was different than anything else out at that time, and for that particular time in anime, it had a good plot. Plot wasn't such a big deal back then. The characters are epic too. Many anime today are inspired by DBZ and DBZ essentially changed the way people in the West saw anime and manga.

It might not be the grandest or have the most complicated plot and mind boggling twists, but it is highly entertaining and is something a lot of us grew up with. That's why it's so awesome.
