I don't answer your question, but I think Kishi made a mistake with this chapter.
If you take a look at this picture

you can see that the Shinobi Alliance is strong enough to beat Madara and Obito. Unfortunately, he switched to Sasuke and the others and made probably a new storyline U_U

It's not a plot hole, it's more of a plot contrivance. It's a stupid move irregardless.

the reason why it happened: Kishi needed Obito to fall so that he could make Madara look more badass by sacrificing Obito (which was a crappy idea)

The juubi is too big to make it intangible.

Also, obito can't make 50% of juubi intangible and other 50% tangible. IT doesn't work like that, either its the whole he has to make intangible or its nothing.

Untrue, obito can make body parts go intangible, whats the difference with his connection to the juubi? Its the exact same thing as a limb.

& I never said 50%, im talking about the mokuton that connects obito to the juubi, thats less than 0.001% of it.

Hard to say really, if he made that tube intangible which was holding the connection together wouldn't that still mean he would lose connection since the connection tube is in a different dimension since its intangible so the tube is basically nonexistent since its intangible which means there is no connection because he made the tube intangible so its not there resulting in the connection being broken.

I get what you're saying, but think about it in the long run, if obito were to make the tube intangible then he may lose the connection for that period of time. But once the attack from the SA is over then obito can easily bring the tube back, fully connected. It makes more sense for him to make the tube intangible to sacrifice a small amount of lost connection, but instead he got the connection severed completely because he somehow "couldnt" do it.

Also another note, the juubi isnt hostile towards obito & madara directly, so even a small loss of the connection wouldnt be enough to make the juubi attack them, I doubt the lost connection would make much of a difference.

Yeah i also see what you're saying. Due note that as soon as the Juubi was brought back madara and obito quickly rushed over to it to start their connection.

While i see you're point about the connection being loss for a bit the Juubi may or may not start to get hostile towards them but due remember how obito later commented regarding how he may have given the Juubi too much conscious which just goes to show madara and obito aren't a special case to the juubi so they may have been victims to the Juubi's hostility.

Meh your probably right though a small loss of connection probably wouldnt of had made a difference in the end.. idk maybe obito simply didnt think on the spot or simply didn't think of making the juubi's tube intangible.

@Bold:I guess that seems like the only plausible explanation without calling it a "plot hole" :yeah:

The way things are going now in the manga, there is one possibility of an answer..Maybe the wooden part was controlled by Madara and so Obito didn't have any control over it..:erm:

That's impossible, obito has never failed to react to something via intangibility, minato is the only exception.

Really? No one is perfect dude. Mistakes can be made. Also it isn't like we know everything a character is thinking at every moment.

He probably figured that Lee's speed blitz would reach them before he could make Madara intangibe along with himself and the connection.

Even if he can make the connection intangible, he still has no choice but to leave his position and the connection temporarily or else the alliance would have ganged him.

TO my knowledge that black cord [which had Gunbai connected to it earlier] was something that was very important for Obito in order to control Juubi so he protected the cord and himself due to lack of reaction time.

As we all know that Obito virtually had only one weakness i.e. slower reaction time against extremely fast opponents viz Mianto, Naruto and Kakashi.

Obito is not that smart, tbh. He's been outsmarted a lot throughout the manga.
