Why didn't Jiraiya teach Nagato the Rasengan?

Because Jiraiya only learned the Rasengan after Minato made it. Jiraiya taught Nagato before he taught Minato.

So, he did not know the rasengan at the time.

Because he had the Rinnegan. He didn't need to learn it. He would learn tons of jutsu in his lifetime. Jiraiya knew this and left Nagato to learn his own jutsu.

Wait, that reminds me...in an anime episode, Jiraiya was sparring with them and hit Yahiko with a weak rasengan. The rasengan shouldn't have exisisted then... Does anyone remember this?

Nope, he was late thirties early forties. He was born and raised in the Second Shinobi World War; I am fairly certain that Kakashi was born either at the start of the Third Shinobi war, or a little bit before.

Because he was the only one who knew that naruto was the son of the fourth because minato told jiraiya he would name his child after a character in his first book. I think jiraiya felt that it was only right to pass the fathers legacy on to the son.

No. Nagato was trained during/after the Second Shinobi World War. Minato was trained subsequent to Jiraiya training Nagato and the Ame Orphans. Nagato was in his adult-hood during the Third Shinobi World War, probably around Minato's age or older. Kakashi was a young child at that time.

Ya I remember it ,it is during the time when Jiraya left them.....I have noticed it when I saw that Episode for the first time,and checked in Naruto wiki, it is stated that Jiraya trained Minato after some time he left those orphans and also it is stated in a spl episode abt Jiraya .....so i concluded that may be it is a mistake ...............

Nope Jiraya trained them during 3rd shinobi world war which continued for a long time ,Minato also trained during that time and he is the trump card of Konoha during the final day's of war and he is the one who single handedly lead Konoha towords the victory,Nagato is probably 1-3 years older than Minato considering the fact that Jiraya's genin team formed when Minato is 10 and Jiraya left Nagato when he is 10......
