Shukaku wasn't at full power. He wasn't release from gaara. If he was, than gaara would have been dead, just like in the start of shippuden.

Summonings: Slugs < Toads < Snakes

Gamabunta admitted itself that it is weaker than Shukaku. So when Naruto punched Gaara, Gamabunta disappeared stating "it has reached its limit hence going back", leaving naruto behind.

Gamabunta is powerful but < any tailed beast.
