Hello everyone.
Gyakuten Saiban 5, or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 5 - Dual Destinies, will be released in Japan the 25th of July, and in Europe/North America sometime during the fall.
For a new fan of the series such as myself, this is incredibly exciting and I can't wait till I get my greasy paws on it, and it'll be incredibly hard to avoid spoilers (spoilers, I won't be able to stop myself)
But enough about little ol' me. I do have some genuine concern about this game and it has nothing to do with the game only being sold digitally here in the West. I'm talking about 'pulling a Metal Gear Solid 2'.
For those who do not know, Metal Gear Solid is famous for one character in particular - Solid Snake. But do you know what happened in the sequel? A new, now widely loathed character took his place as a main character instead. Granted, Snake was still around, being even more badass than he was in the previous game, but he was still not the protagonist. Raiden was.
This took the entire fanbase by surprise. Konami had only showed Snake in the trailers and not mentioned Raiden AT ALL.
See where I'm going with this? Phoenix Wright has not been a protagonist for EIGHT YEARS. We've had two spin-offs where he was only a cameo in the background and one 'main title' contribution named 'Apollo Justice' where he was reduced to an irresponsible hobo side character.
In short: now, at last, a new Phoenix Wright game will come out where it looks like he'll be the main character, but I'm afraid they'll pull a Metal Gear Solid 2 on us and have us play around with Apollo for the majority of the game.
What do you think?
