[Discussion] Should luffy have a love interest-post your opinion here!

Okay so I love one piece, and I like to go on youtube to watch the amvs. I wasnt aware of this, because luffy doesnt seem to be in love with anyone and I really cant picture it, but a lot of fans support luffyxnami, xrobin, xhancock and on and on. I'm not complaining, but is that neccessary? One Piece is a shonen anime, and most of the ones I watch dont seem to have a lot of romance, which is fine by me. A lot of my freinds argued with me, saying that one piece's first volume is called romance dawn, but I said that that was because of the japanese word for adventure, which sounds the same as romance or is spelled the same or something. I read an editor note from the online fan translation that said that. So my question is, does anyone belive luffy should have a love interest? Would it have a good or bad effect on the readers. I wouldnt have even posted this, except that I remembered Gold Roger had a love interest, Rogue D. Portgaz, and he and luffy have been compared so many times. What do you guys think?

I'd say in the end it will be Boa Hancock, I mean it makes sense really, the problem with him being in a relationship with Nami is he is the captain of the crew and I find it would be horrible if the captain got involved with his crew mates.

While with Hancock, it makes sense to me anyway since I don't think Luffy is going to live until he's grey haired and wrinkly, Oda has already foreshadowed Luffy dying early by having Iva give him those injections that took away 10 years of his life...he's already had that twice...that's 20 years of his life gone, and now take in the fact Gear 2nd is constantly putting a strain on his body as well shortening his life span.

I hope Luffy goes sort of the way Roger did, spending a year or two at Maiden Island before dying.

I think Oda said that there will be no love chemistry between the strawhats so yeah. (Sucks for Sanji, maybe Violet will be his , or maybe he might get to sleept with Robin/Nami, who knows.) Anyways, nah I think Luffy doesn't really need a love interest.

Oda once stated that Luffy is an asexual, a person who can't fall in love or be sexually attracted to someone, so there won't be any romance with Luffy involved.

I think it's pretty obvious that, Nami belongs to, Sanji no matter what anyone says. Oda, makes that extremely clear in the manga. Out of all women in the story, the only one who he pays most attention to is, Nami. Nami, is also a really crazy woman and Luffy thinks that you have to be "Brave" to want to marry her, meaning he thinks you must be pretty brave to want to marry a crazy woman like her.

Sanji, is the only one who can put up with, Nami's craziness. He's perfect for her. Oda, gave us tons of hints on this. He even had, Sanji imagine them having a daughter.

But yeah, If it's going to be anyone it will be, Hancock. Goku, ended up getting married

You must misunderstood what he said. He didn't say there wouldn't be any sort of romance at the end up the series. Also, those weren't his exact words. At the same time you should be saying this to the person who posted this thread. I'm just giving my opinion like the thread suggest we do.
