Some sort of DF most likely.
Or it could be something to do with the island?
We were told that the islands in the New World were very dangerous and weird.
Maybe there is something, similar to a magnetic field, that turns people into toys as it is suggested in the most recent chapter that the little toy soldier could have been human?

I said the same thing in this chapters discussion.

I think someone in the Donquixote family has this DF, and it is used on them when someone steps out of line or against the royal family. I bet the only reason they don't rebel is because they were promised if they behave, they can be turned back. It is also the only way the story with the toy soldier and Rebecca makes sense as well. Their relationship almost sounds like they are romantically involved. He must have been human when they were together and at some point was turned into the toy.

Well maybe thats why the toys are against Dofla because they turned them into toys and thats why rebecca wants to defeat doflamingo.
