[Theory] Why it wasnt a ice clone

People say that gray didn't die and how it was a clone but remember what his brother said that gray can only make inanimate objects while his brother can make animate objects so unless his brother made it it isn't a clone meaning he is dead but most likely will be saved thou

I was thinking that it wasnt a clone because there was blood, I dont remember vompletely but didnt previous clones just turn into ice once hit?
