Girls in Naruto's manga are way underrated, because of Kishimoto focusing mainly on male characters.

If you look at statistics, the most threads opened in this forum that involves female characters talks about Pairing, and not about Story.

I'm betting at Kishimoto being a sexist. And this is not a rare thing... it seems Japan overall has the tendency for such sexism.

What are your thoughts about this?

My thoughts? It's a Shonen, what more would you expect? Oh, and just to let you know, I am one of those few people who like to think about the females outside of pairings.

Well, either way, you gotta admit Kishi has been handling the females a lot better during this war. He's defiantly improved.

He's not sexist. He said he doesn't know how to develop females. Also, what the fans choose to do with female character-directed discussions has nothing to do with Kishi.

Dont get me wrong, but from the word go, the Manga is about a male character. if you want a manga with more screen time for females. then Naruto isnt your choice. try something else.

Ino has gotten like 100X more badass in this war alone, and Sakura also got a power up that probably has her up at mid jonin, level. And Hinata has improved as well. Dunno bout you , but I think Kishi plans on focusing on the females some more. I feel like he knew his female characters weren't as great as the males, so he's decided to finally give them some action & power.

Your logic has to be the worst that I've seen today.

Kishimoto is a man who created a manga about a boy and other ninjas (which happens to comprise mostly of other men) -- and because females are not the main focus of the manga...according to you, he is a sexist.

Yea 2 weak shit hokages... 1 Who is scared as **** and 1 who couldnt kill no hand orochimaru... so sad.

Really? Mei is capable of melting anything with her vapour style, ANYTHING. And Tsunade was able to break Madara's damn Susano'O. I could continue but I simply wanted to state those two feats. They're not weak, no where near weak at all.

sexism is everywhere. games/tv/commericals there is so much disrespect towards women its astonishing. in the USA women are regarded as inanimate ****ing object. well if you go off 80% of tv shows, books, movies, magazines, ads and commericails.

Japan appears to be the same way from my experience,
-
but oh well. i don't like being involved in subjects like these becuase i don't relaly care

I would have love for the girls to be work out more but hell is a shonen, I'm mainly happy that we are not getting panty and boob shots and that kind of fanservice, since usually when a girl has an important role there's fanservice after fanservice, because of that I don't complained much for the lack of an important role on a girl. Also, lately the girls are showing they can do more things then look pretty or be part of the team, is not much but at least is something small.

Your comment and your sig go hand in hand.

Kishimoto is favoring the male characters because the main target in Japan is boys ("shounen" is "boy" in Japanese, after all).

I could list other sexist moments in Shounen Jump like Bakuman having woman as stupid if they think they can get ahead or his own mom saying "men have dreams that a woman cannot understand") which make me wonder how a man could ever fall in love with a woman if she is of "the lesser gender". I could mention Nel from Bleach who could have been a decent hero, but was reduced to a child for the sake of plot (the hero defeats the badguy not a secondary character, "much less a female secondary character".) I'm sure this goes beyond Shounen and general media coming from Japan.

Worse, your sig explains the shitty return of Karin in chapter 627 (and I say that as an avid SK shipper). The female character was given maybe three panels of what could have been an entire emotional chapter.

That sells the manga, keeping the females less then spectacular.

I support Sakura against the haters for this reason
