Itachi fans (that includes me) have constantly stated that Itachi is invincible because he has the Totsuka no Tsurugi and the Yata mirror.

The Totsuka Blade

The Totsuka blade has been stated to be a variation of the Kusanagi Blade (Possessed by Orochimaru).

Now, Zetsu states that the sword is able to seal anything it pierces in a world of eternal genjutsu but he then states that this is part of a legend. (meaning it could not be totally true).

Note: Zetsu says that the Totsuka Blade is a perfect counter to the Kusanagi blade, but this is a mistranslation. It should be that the Totsuka Blade and the Kusanagi Blade are both Swords of Kusanagi i.e. they have similar origins.

The sword of Kusanagi has been stated to be able to cut anything or at least hurt anything it touches.

Why the Totsuka blade may not be able to seal anything it pierces

If you follow Naruto, during the Sasuke Retrieval arc, Naruto and Orochimaru fought. During this fight, Naruto went in to the 4-tails mode and Orochimaru used the Kusanagi blade.

Orochimaru states that his Kusanagi no Tsurugi was not able to cut or pierce Naruto's chakra shrouded body.

From this I hypothesise that, since the Kusanagi blade and the Totsuka blade are related both in the NarutoVerse and in Japanese mythology.

It is possible that there are things that the Totsuka blade may not be able to seal just like how the Kusanagi blade failed to cut through Naruto's Version 2 state.

For example, the Totsuka Blade may not be able to seal something like the Juubi.

Therefore the Totsuka Blade may not be as invincible as people think.

I agree with you. I've been trying to say this for awhile but, most fans are delusional.

Maybe but Manga facts > Assumptions.

And unlike the Totsuka which is a spiritual weapon the Kusanagi isnt, we cant look at the Kusanagi and assume that the Totsuka is bound to the same laws.

An Itachi fan that says ''Totsuka can't seal everything''?.. I like you. Plus rep for you.

I think it can seal everything if it's able to pierce the object
Since we don't know it can pierce a juubi or any object like it we won't know but it's a good theory and might be true

kusanagi and totsuka cannot be compared, there is a difference between materialistic weapons and spiritual weapon... whatever totsuka can pierce can be sealed only...

In the databook, it says the Totsuka Sword of Sealing seals anything. Manga = Fact, great thread, though!

It can cut down any enemy U_U Although it can't seal the enemy, cutting pretty much is GG unless your immortal. Not to mention if it could cut the enemy, it could pierce it.

Fanboys do not read
You are right, .. but oro seemed like he wanted the blade really bad right? well why would he want it unless it is alot better then his sword? But yeah it only has a powerful sealing tech on it not power of a god so it obviously cant seal everything. i just think it is most definatly the best sword in naruto

Good hypothesis. However, it's possible that the Totsuka blade might be more powerful than the Kusanagi blade seeing as it is a Spirit Weapon with no Etheral form.

It needed to actually pierce something to seal it, as stated by Itachi. Something as large as the Juubi cannot be pierced easily. Obviously it doesn't work. Even Itachi himself said every jutsu has a weakness.

It seals anything it pierces, but not everything can be pierced (such as Obito or something with chakra cloak)

Itachi's sword is made of chakra, and thus other chakra can resist it. It can also be dodged, and like I said in the last post any jutsu has a weakness. Nothing is all powerful, not even the Juubi or Rikudo
