Question: why the slug?

Ever since I saw Tsunade summon Katsuya, I've always had this thought. You got jiraiya and his samurai frogs, orochimaru and his snakes, but why does Tsunade have slugs? Why is the other group of sages have to be slugs? It's just weird IMO.

Why not ? She is the best medical nin ever, so she needs to have a summoning to accommodate that, nothing else.

It's true.. it's a Japanese Folklore. the title is Tale of The Gallant Jiraiya. If you search it on google you can find it.

Just a quick web search would have proven that the info in wikipedia about Jiraiya Goketsu Monogatari is right.
Saying crap just for the sake of wanting to seem "cool" is so mainstream...

In college most of my teachers relied heavily on wikipedia (some of them being active collaborators), it's just easier to find the info collected in one place, if one needs a deeper approach wikipedia has sources at the final section of most entries; or that's where google comes into play.
