From a purely functional point of view?

To what countries in that immediate region can you travel as a civilian?

What nations willingly and openly participate in trade?

What nations have advocated violence against U.S. citizens and/or Western societies as a whole?

We can argue all we want to about what could be - what should be, etc. What matters is reality. Pretty much all of the people in Israel, today, are there because they were born there. It is, in every sense of the word, their home. Palistinian or other claims that their 'home' has been invaded fall to a similar problem... none of the people alive, there, can legitimately claim that is their home. It would be akin to some guy trying to come along and claim that his grandfather owned the property your house is built on before it was stolen from him by some shady government activity.

The only reason it's dangerous for someone like me to go to Israel is because some whacked-out Palistinian or Iranian might just decide my head coming off would look good on YouTube... or just happen to lob a mortar into where I'm at. Otherwise - the only issue we have with Israel is that they can be a little subversive and manipulative. Not too big of a deal once you get used to it, though.

Because if we support a country just because we felt sorry for them after the Holocaust that's not going to help us. We have about 15 trillion in debt, we don't need to be wasting our time giving money to countries so they can defend themselves, we need to think about (I'm talking about the US) ourselves and our debt and our economy.
