[Debate] Why are nerds considered ugly?

Bro I did every sport I could in high school. My parents let me and my friends have wild parties on our property every weekend. Being a jock or a nerd doesn't mean a damn thing. It doesn't make you ugly. Everyone has one thing about them thats nerdy. One of my friends spends all his time obsessing over Jordans and we call him a nerd. Another guy i know spends all his time on WOW. My best friend was a band geek. You know what we all have in common? We all have smoking hot girlfriends. Not just like okay but at least a seven or higher. Meanwhile the jockiest dude I know is a chubby chaser. Some pople are just stupid and try to fill out stereotypical roles. It gets better after high school.

I play basketball, chill with friends, workout etc

but, I also watch anime and manga sometimes

I think it boils down to stereotypes.

When you say the word 'nerd', many will think of overweight, acne-suffering kids with glasses/braces and a lisp. It might seem bizarre for someone to have a passion in anime or 'cartoons, just because it's different from the reality TV garbage that is always on TV.
Most nerds nowadays can range from average to good looking, and you'd probably not even notice they are nerds unless they tell you. Very few of them are shut-ins or as disgusting as they are portrayed in movies.

Watching anime don't make you a nerd. All the homies I grew up wit watched Pokemon,Yugioh,DBZ, some watch Naruto and Bleach. But nerd is a term that dumb people use to call out people who are probably smarter then them and they wanna feel cool by doing so. But it aint nuthn wrong with being a nerd....unless you act and dress like Urkel, then I can't help ya.

I am a so called "nerd" me and my friend watch japanese anime, hack pokemon roms, and jam 60s music all day.

Except
A) He is captain of the football team
B) I was voted most handsome man in the yearbook
c) I play guitar and drums
D) I have a girlfriend
E) I have more friends than I can count
F) Etc.


So why do people have to assume that being a nerd means you are ugly and have no life? You do realize that you gys are also on a nerdsite calling others nerds....right?

A lot of that changes, later. The cliques get broken up and you're thrown in with all new people who tend to care what you bring to the table rather than what lunch table you sat at every day.

It's actually funny how many Marines are complete nerds, too. It's somewhat expected out of a Navy guy - especially us Avionics techs (who cammo-up and carry a rifle?... eh - long story) - but it's funny to see just how quirky the jarheads are. A lot of anime nerds, StarTrek/Wars/Gate nerds, and quite a few of them who get in on Game of Thrones and other such things. Even a few of them who were into Twilight - but we tried our best to quarantine that shit before it got out of hand.
