As soon as Activision bought out RedOctave, Guitar Hero changed:

Harmonix Developed both RockBand and Guitar Hero.
RedOctave produced Guitar Hero, as the producers, RO owned the patent.
Activision bought RedOctave and, in a sense, stole Guitar Hero from Harmonix.
A couple of months later MTV bought the now stranded Harmonix.
Unable to continue the Guitar Hero franchise without a patent, Harmonix Developed RockBand.
Realizing that they screwed up, Activision decided to copy Harmonix and created GH: World Tour.

both have pros and cons
example:you can use a guitar hero guitar on rock band but you cant use a rock band guitar on guitar hero

dispite what i said earlyer i like guitar hero better because if you get it for x-box 360 you can download music from your mp3 on to the game and play the songs on your mp3
