You don't need feats, if I wrote a story or made a Manga and said that a certain items or technique can do something, that means it can. The Manga said the Yata Mirror can block all attacks, which can be seen as only hype but when it's also stated in the data book that Kishimoto made himself and also explains further what it can do and how it can do it then it is true.

In the bottom paragraph it say's the Yata Mirror changes it's attributes to render the attack ineffective.

So like I said, the Yata Mirror effects both itself and the attacks being used.
