Turn Back the Pendulum Chapter 2- A shadow in the bloody mist.
1 YEAR LATER
On a foggy day in an open grassy field, Zanji and Roku stood across from each other, giving each other cold stares.
Zanji: U_U
Roku: :| ……what’s with that face?
Zanji: ……………………
Roku: No answer, huh? Alright, Mr. Genius, let’s see what you’ve got.
Zanji: >=|
Roku flash stepped toward Zanji and jumped into the air to kick him, but Zanji blocked the kick with his arm and twisted his hand around to grab Roku’s leg and toss him away. Roku rolled in the grass but recovered and got up.
Roku: Not bad…Let’s go again…Shine Upon, Kintsuki!
Roku’s sword changed into a celestial gold katana-nodachi that reflected the light of the sun to look like the surface of water.
Zanji: *unsheathes zanpakuto* >=|
Zanji ran at Roku with zanpakuto and slashed at him several times but Roku dodged all of the attacks and swung his sword, sending a small blast of solar reiatsu at Zanji. Zanji flew backward and hit the ground hard. He got up and as he did, Roku pointed his zanpakuto at Zanji and a small fireball shot out at Zanji.
Zanji: …U_U Sever, Raika!
Zanji’s zanpakuto changed into a white longsword with a hook end, and he hit Roku’s fireball with the sword. Roku and Zanji flash stepped toward each other and their weapons collided. The pipes on Zanji’s Raika began to emit flames and Zanji began overpowering Roku. Roku increased his reiatsu output to its max and kept pushing, and when the two warriors were at their peaks a small explosion occurred, burning a small area of grass that was caught in it. Zanji landed on both legs and stumbled to the ground. Roku landed on both legs but fell immediately after landing.
Roku: Whew…not bad at all, Zanji-san.
Zanji: You too…
After five minutes of resting, Zanji and Roku were about to fight again when a rift in space/time suddenly opened up in the sky above them. It was a garganta gate and from it came three Menos Grandes. Zanji grabbed his zanpakuto and charged at one of the Menos, slicing it in half. Roku unsheathed his sword and managed to slice through one of them, but the third menos suddenly fired a cero at both Zanji and Roku. Zanji and Roku released their shikais and deflected the cero. Zanji shot multiple blasts of fire while Roku shot water blasts out of his zanpakuto at the Menos. Finally, it set to fire and burned completely. But oddly enough, the garganta remained open.
Roku: What the heck’s going on?
Zanji: O_O ……crap…*picks up phone* Requesting Backup from any nearby Captains and Lieutenants immediately. We have an open Garganta Gate in North Rukongai District 12. Three Gillian Class Menos had just subsequently entered through this Garganta but it is staying open! And………*looks up* O_O ………………requesting immediate backup!!! NOW! We have just encountered 4 adjucas-level Menos!! 5…6…o_o 7…*drops phone*
Roku: Stay calm, Zanji…o_o
One of the adjucas fired a powerful cero blast, and just as it approached, it was redirected into the sky where it dissipated. In front of the adjucas stood two men, both wearing captain haoris with the Divisions “9” and “5” insignias.
Bishamon: My, my, aren’t there a lot of hollows here…sorry for the wait, but we’re here now.
Elias: What the hell?…1…2…4…7…10…There are 10 adjucas-level Menos here? How did this happen? O_O
Two others suddenly appeared next to Elias and Bishamon. Both had spiky black hair, but one had more loose and darker hair that was jet black, and his eyes were pure black as well.
Hisagi: I’m sorry I’m late, Captain Sarutobi.
Kenshin: Hisagi-san, you’re last
Hisagi: Shutup! >.>
Adjucas: ROAR!!!
Bishamon: Let’s end this…don’t let them escape. Finish them off. Mamorimasu, AwaiNaito!
Bishamon swung his sword and a flailing thin wave of green reiatsu flew at three of the adjucas menos and sliced them in half. Hisagi used Bakudou #62 to bind one of the menos and he cut it three times to defeat it, and he finished it off with Kazeshini.
Elias: Wipe Away All Existence, RyuugaShokkingu
Elias swung his sword and dark red lightning bursted out from the tip of the two small daggers that were his zanpakuto, killing two of the adjucas.
Kenshin: Devour his soul, Umbra!
Kenshin sword changed into a pure black longsword with a dark purple aura around it. He charged at the one adjucas menos and sliced through it easily, and then he flash stepped behind another menos and cut its head off. Roku and Zanji each took their swords and shot a wave of fire that devoured the remaining two adjucas.
Kenshin: Whew…what a battle. Still, ten adjucas is a lot for a lieutenant to handle. Even two is enough.
Bishamon: Well, we did good. *goes to the garganta* Now to close this thing…*puts on a black glove and closes the garganta gate*
Elias: Where’d you learn to do that?
Bishamon: I do research. You know, I used to be in the 12th Division. Now, guys, let’s head back to Seireitei quickly.
As they all left, in the spot that the garganta that was closed was, a person in a blood-red robe and hood on appeared and searched for something. The person picked it up and flicked it out in front of him/herself. When he/she did, a garganta opened and the person walked through it before it closed. Later in the real world, a Huge Hollow entered Hikiruma Town, just north of Karakura Town. The Huge Hollow was oddly wearing a blood-red shroud over its arm. A resident shinigami jumped out from the shadows and attacked the hollow, but the hollow saw him and moved before getting hit.
Huge Arrancar: WHO ARE YOU?!?!
???: I’m the 4th Seat of the 6th Squad, Akira Hisakata! >=| And, I’m the one who’s going to kick your ass.
Huge Arrancar: *ROARS!!*
Akira sliced through the huge arrancar easily, but suddenly the arrancar reattached itself and grabbed Akira. It began to try to suck out his spiritual pressure more and more, but strangely enough, the arrancar’s face became distorted. His skin began to tremble and Akira’s eyes glowed bright blue. All of the spiritual pressure that the arrancar had sucked out of Akira came back out of his mouth and into Akira’s mouth, and then the hollow’s reiatsu transferred to Akira. Then the arrancar’s blood began to come out of its mouth and was all absorbed by Akira. When it was over, the large arrancar fell to the ground, disintegrating as it fell. Akira fell on the ground as well, and he lay there idle for a long time. After a while, a dark, cloaked figure came near Akira and observed him.
???: This wasn’t supposed to happen. Damn…that arrancar was far too weak. His reiatsu level must have been abysmal. Oh well…
???: The only way to create Sangre is by having arrancars absorb the blood and reiatsu of shinigami.
???: It’s okay, we’ll find better test subjects. This arrancar was merely a demi-hollow level arrancar. Once we get the adjucas and Vasto Lorde class arrancar, we can find better guinea pigs for our experiment. Let’s go…
Akira lay on the ground silently, waiting for the mysterious figures to disappear. When they were gone, he reached for the shroud that they left behind. When he touched it, his wounds closed up and he was completely healed.
Akira: O_O………what did she say? …The…Sangre…
And so the prelude to evil is sounded. The pendulum has skipped backward a century, and then forward one year. Now it shall skip forward nineteen more years. But between those 19 years, such things have happened. In the four year span from where the pendulum stands, Bianca Raducea will be promoted to Captain of Division 9. Also at that time, Genryusai Yamamoto meets a timely death of old age and is succeeded by Bishamon Sarutobi as the New Captain Commander. In another 5 years following that event, Roku Kiyoshi becomes 5th Division Captain succeeding Elias. Now...ten years after this, Captains Unohana, Ukitake, and Shunsui retire, leaving the 4th, 8th, and 13th Squads open for replacement or Squad Transfer...
