I somewhat agree with Derp, although I do hold my own thoughts about why they chose Rin.
It could be that it just happened to be her, but that seems almost too coincidental.
It's either Derp's reason, or OT's reason. Although I don't think there was any hidden motive behind their attack other than to just destroy Konoha with the Sanbi, yet still choosing Rin for a reason.

OT: The images aren't showing.

I think Rin might be called as an Unstable Jinchuuriki because her body was not compatible with sanbi and of course she had a broken heart or a hole in her heart so I guess that would also make her vulnerable to tailed beast take over

I agree that Madara probably was involved and I also think he wanted to kill Minato who at the time was one of the most dangerous Shinobi in the leaf

No, why does your clock always stop at Minato, this is ridiculous, Minato wasn't even 10% of what Madara was, to think that Madara would control Mist to kill Minato is a way too absurd thought. Minato is overrated, nobody wanted to kill him apart from some fodders

I never said Minato could beat Madara but Madara wanted to destroy the leaf so killing the yellow flash would help him achieve his goal

I think it was all Madara's doing thats why he was so sure Obio will return

I thought Madara will die right away once he disconnect himself to the mazou.. It coudn't be Madara. Besides, Obito was the one who controlled the Fourth Mizukage, & give orders to Kisame.

Im more inclined to think Madara was controlling the Mist and he did that to Rin to lure Obito to his service.

You know I was thinking the same thing at first after I had read the chapter. My only problem with that is how? Madara was being kept alive since he was attached to the gedo statue or whatever. He was pretty much stuck where he was and on the verge of death. Seems to me he'd need some kind of accomplice to accomplish something like that at his age.

He was controlling it before his infirmity since The Great Second Shinobi World War which is around two decades before his encounter with Obito. He was not trapped in his cave during that time, Obito merely inherited that control of Kirigakure when Madara died.

Did I miss something, or this is a mere speculation. How did you know that Madara was behind all the Hidden Mist doings?

I just don't see how he could have been controlling them from inside the cave. We don't know yet whether Madara himself took control of the mist or if it was something Obito did himself after Rin died. It's very much possible the mist planned that simply to weaken Konoha.

Obito actually had a motive to take over the mist....the mist was responsible for Rin's death. Either Madara took control of them long ago and somehow held control while he was in the cave connected to the gedo or Obito did it of his own accord later on out of revenge. If it is the latter, it would kind of make sense as well as corruption due to revenge has been a theme in Naruto for a while.

I see it as a possibility though. Madara had already attacked the village once with a bijuu and it wouldn't surprise me if he tried it again with the three tails.
