It seems that kishi is foreshadowing naruto developing into the next rikudo senin. Honestly, at naruto's current power level this would seem to be impossible. How could a mere kyuubi jinchuuriki achieve such immense power? But the foreshadowing is clear, as shown in the latest manga chapter:

From the start of this manga, naruto and sasuke shared a special bond. Whether it was as rivals, or as friends/brothers. Even though he denied his plea, even Sasuke acknowledged that Naruto had become his closest friend when they fought at the valley of the end. Kishimoto always showed them progressing parallel to one another, naruto grew strong enough to beat pain, sasuke strong enough to fight the 5 kage. We all thought that this was a foreshadow leading to their ultimate fight which would signal the end of this manga, but what if the plan was something else entirely?
When he abandoned the village, his goal was all about revenge. But now after Sasuke met with Itachi and heard Hashirama's story, he has decided to follow Itachi's will:
What.....exactly was Itachi's will? It was influenced by Shisui, stated here:
'Self Sacrifice, a nameless shinobi who protects peace from within its shadow..'
Itachi inherited the will of self sacrifice from his friend. That will has now been passed on to Sasuke. At a subconscious level, Sasuke's attitude to Naruto is reminiscent of Itachi's attitude to Sasuke in the past. Sasuke used to push naruto away, like Itachi did to Sasuke. Sasuke was like a burden to Naruto ever since the vote, just like Itachi was a burden to Sasuke ever since the massacre. But at the end, Itachi sacrificed everything and showed his true colors at the moment of his death, when he gave Sasuke his powers and died.
Sasuke, is going to make the ultimate sacrifice. He will be on the verge of death thanks to fighting the Juubi, and pull an Obito and give his eyes and power to Naruto, just like Itachi gave him his.
Sasuke has the EMS, the eteranl mangekyuo. And who else is headed to the battlefield alongside Sasuke? Senju Hashirama. Its already been stated that:
'You can't awaken the rinnegan without the senju and uchihas powers..'. Its already quite likely that thanks to having his dna, being revived past his prime and having the rinnegan and the Juubi, that Edo madara surpasses hashirama. Seeing this, and possibly bearing witness to naruto's determination, i think the shodai will give naruto his dna, which along with Sasuke's eyes will allow Naruto to awaken the rinnegan( sharingan...MS...EMS...Rinnegan is the stages of progression).
Note: While its true that it took Madara several years to awaken his rinnegan, in Naruto's case this process could be accelerated thanks to the chakra of the kyuubi,and of the other tailed beasts. Moreover, the Sage predicted the rise of a successor who would take over his role in the future, i think he left some form of chakra or power in kurama and the other tailed beasts that would allow for this process to be completed.
Its a tragedy in a way, but it seems to be a convincing possibility. Thoughts?

, thus explaining the image of all the bijuu that the juubi saw, why did we see an image of the Rikudo with his rinnegan? Lets also not forget, that the power of the SO6P was the combined might of the senju and the uchiha, it was thanks to his own strength that he was able to stop the Juubi in the first place.
