I was thinking about the rinnegan. Currently, we know that rikudou sennin was the first to have it, but we don't know how he awakened it. Then, he used it's power to seal the juubi inside of him, he created the moon and the jutsus. Then he created the 9 bijuus out of the juubi's chakra. So far, he seems to be good.
Now, the only ones who carried the rinnegan do far were evil or used it mostly for evil. I alwahs had the felling that the rinnegan inspires fear, terror and evil. We can even fell the fear the in the fights when the rinnegan appears, the evil power it seems to represents. Just like the times pain used to appear, or when madara showed he had it.

I mean, madara found out that he could summon the gedo mazo and revive the juubi, but how? Maybe it was something the so6p let something that madara could find. And why didn the sage destroyed the remainings of the juubi, if he probably knew it could be used again?

So maybe the rinnegan represents an evil power, and whoever has it has something evil? Or maybe it is metaphor, showing that the power of good can be used in a more powerful way for evil? So maybe the sage was evil? I remmember that in kurama's flashback the sage told the bijuus that "yoy will be together again, in a different way from when you were inside of me, and differently from when you were inside of me, you will be led to the right path". So they werr in a wrong path? I guess someone even made a post here about what the so6p said.

What do you guys think, did you like the theory? Please share your ideas.

Rinnegan evolves from Sharingan, which needs Hatred and Fear to awaken.

S06P's got the Rinnegan from the Juubi, just like how Naruto has whiskers from Kurama

S06P made the moon after the 9 Bijuu's were created, which means he was no longer a Jinchuriki and no longer in his prime showing how strong he was.

He had to have the Sharingan in his younger years then probably endured some secret training & got the Rinnegan.

No the juubi can still be in his body, he only divide the chakra not the actual Juubi

Bro, he sealed the body of the Juubi inside the moon, after he split it's chakra into 9 beings. That means it wasn't inside him when he divided it...

The Rinnegan represents Budhism. Budhism revolves around the concept that 'God' lay within each person, and there are paths to 'enlightenment' that allow one to access the abilities and wisdom of that internal God.

Thus, I do not believe the Rinnegan is a blood line ability, in the slightest. It is attainable by many people.

What the Sage was referring to is anyone's guess, and I doubt it has much to do with the Rinnegan. Most of the Bijuu are seen as destructive, manipulative, and hateful - which may be a product of how the Sage went about creating them (or, perhaps, something the Sage did not have time to work out of the Juubi).

Naruto has promised to take away the hate of the Kyuubi - which I think is what the Sage meant by the "right path."

This explains Madara's ability to "awaken" the Rinnegan - and his ability to "give it" to Nagato (though exactly how that was done is a bit of a mystery - though it could have something to do with his parents being killed and some prompting to cause him to attain 'enlightenment.')
