Nope. Rin was his motivation, Rin was just the metaphor for everything wrong Tobi sees in the world, why would Kishi spend moreorless an entire chapter explaining this if it wasn't true?

It's fine. It's just a repeat of how people kept making theories about Tobi being Izuna even after the manga confirmed that it was Obito. People just misinterpret him entirely. I don't get why though? Why make the manga worse in your own head? People are just clutching for straws at this point.

I'm not an Obito fangirl... but I do think that understanding his plot/motivation could be important for your overall enjoyment of the manga. If Obito was truly a villain who started a war because he wants Rin back, and not because he's fed up with the shinobi system, then the entire point of the manga would be screwed over.

I think a very similar example was when 604 just came out and a number of readers went into rage-mode over Kakashi killing Rin. Now that we know the truth, and all those comments have become extremely pointless and immature.
