You said "because Obito would just teleport away". But itachi didn't know about that so how can that be a reason as to why he wouldn't just fight him and kill him. Don't get me wrong dude my vote would go to Itachi if he fought pre-rinnegan Obito. Minato figured him out so I don't see why the Hokage kid Itachi couldn't have.

But I don't think Obito was afraid of him either. Otherwise he wouldn't have even let him get that close. Plus he knew that Itachi was really a good guy and that he wasn't really down with the Akatsuki cause or destroying the leaf. So he must've known that Itachi had the potential to betray him at some point. If he were that afraid of Itachi he wouldn't have even let him be apart of the group in the first place. He would've just had the akatsuki help him kill Itachi if he thought he posed that big of threat. They were clearly cautious of each other. That's why they never fought. They worked for the same group they didn't really keep a great deal of distance from one another

Amaterasu is a material flame.. When it burns and obito phases..it cannot cross dimensions which is how I though he escaped Itachi's failsafe and Tsukyomi can be broken by a pure uchiha with a sharingan not even requiring MS.

What is it that makes Obito scared of Itachi apart from Itachi jeopardizing the moon eye by revealing all his plans, hideouts etc to the 5 great nations? I think his words can have various meaning no essentially meaning fear of his power or intelligence.

You probably shouldn't have posted that last picture because I never realized it but in that same speech by Itachi that you and OP used Itachi says "The only person that can surpass him" is me. Since he said can surpass him that means he hadn't surpassed him yet. Which says that Itachi thought that even the current Obito was better than him. He even goes on to say that the time to take his prize (Sasuke's eyes) and gain better power than Obito had finally arrived. Again saying that currently he was weaker than Obito. That pretty much solos OPs argument

But I think this entire speech was simply to deceive Sasuke. But it's too late now since OP already tried to use this speech as evidence. So if we are supposed to take the first part of it as canon and not just a lie, we have to do the same for the second part

ive been corrected on this but my point was that if Itachi praises the real Madara as invincible and Obito disrespects him face to face.. we can assume that he couldn't have been too scared of Itachi but I realise it was circumstantial now.

clearly you dont understand, no matter how you read that page, he clearly says Madara was better before he got owned by the 1st, now he sucks, then he said he will surpass.... (drum roll please) "The Invincible Madara" not the downgraded shell motorless rolling cage that is Obito.
