at first I wanted to replie to every single post i saw in this thread that I knew was either "factual wrong" about evolution, or was simply trying to push the agenda of teach creationism in school (the teach the controversy and all that) but I realized that I hadent even gotten to the second page and I already had managed to write a pretty big post... (in other words i pretty much gave up...)
(here Is what I did write before I gave up)
I didn't remember my teacher teaching creationism, all i remeber is the bunch of brainwashing with their darwinism.
I'm sorry that you feel that being though actually fact about nature and reality is you being brainwashed...
Thanks for your opinion. Have you ever been educated in a Christian or faith-teaching school? I'm assuming not, so you really have no place to judge.
So your saying because we did not recive a bad education (one with a low amount of actual facts about reality and science) we aren't allowed to to judge educations that are factual inferior?
I don't see why some parents freak out over it so much. Gravity is only a theory but students still learn about that.
You do know that there is a huge difference in the common use of "Theory" and the way it's used by scientists right?
what we normal people call a Theory is what the Scientists call a hypotese (a idea, that is not backed up by facts) when the scientists use the word Theory it is something that is so overwelmingly backed up by facts that's it simply can't be see as anything other than confirmed.
Just like what people call the Law of Gravity is by normal people is called "the theory of gravity" by the scientists, and a fun fact the theory of evolution is the theory humanity have the most amount of evidence to back it up, by a huge margin I may add, you could combine all the evidence there are for every single scientific theory we have ever made and there would still be more evidence backing the theory of evolution.
when there are enough evidence to prove that Creationism is true, they can teach it all they want in school, but untill then, keep it out!
Creation is true if ur one of the billions who believe in either jewism, Christianity, Islam, etc. Even old native americans had stories of a god creating everything. It has a rich history. It should b thought in a history class.
What does a personal belief in "something" make it a reality? (avording to that logic santa claus is real, and so is vampires, and wearwolves...)
Evolution is something that makes sense but till we find an animal that is actually changing naturally without us doing it I'm still skeptic.
you need to read up on evolution... Evolution is not spontanius changing in a animal but small changes betwean every single generation of a species that over the span og many thousands (if not million of years) make changes in species.
Also the fact that that nothing made everything is slightly hard to imagine. So yep that's my stance on it.
(your refearing to the big bang theory here right) ? how is that different that God poofed everything in to existance?
and those theories have nothing to do with each other.
Go cry moar
Not sure which school you went to. Dutch school don't teach creationism at all.
Plus, why does it bother you so much? More than half of the world believes in creationism, so you having more insight about it would enable you to discuss about creationism and look at things differently. The more knowledge, the better.
edit: Both should be taught.
one is knowledge, the other is wishfull thinking with not actually evidence to back it up...
