Rather, this was Manda's way of showing his arrogant superiority to not only the other summons, but towards Orochimaru as well. Kabuto said that if Manda found out Orochimaru couldn't use his Jutsu that Manda would eat them both because he held himself much higher than anyone else. Manda only served Orochimaru because he couldn't defeat him in battle, and arrogantly asked that Orochimaru prepare 100 sacrifices as "compensation" for his cooperation...not as a requirement.

I know during the Sannin three way that he demanded at least 100 sacrifices afterwards. I don't think they are necessary for him to be summoned, probably more just to keep Manda "happy".

Manda had a very hostile personality. He was like Bunta when Naruto first summoned him, only much more aggressive. The hundred sacrifices was not a requirement for the summoning, but rather a means for Orochimaru to make amends with him for having Kabuto summon him and for Tsunade stabbing him in the head. It was also meant to emphasize how "evil" he was. Otherwise, he would have just went back to wherever he was summoned from.

Think about it like Naruto providing snacks for Gamakichi and Gamatatsu whenever they helped him train.

He would get 100 sacrifices after he was unsummoned if you will. He was a powerful summon but is not formidable enough to sacrifice 100 ninja or men imo.

I could be mistaken, but... Wasn't Mada Oro's newest summon at one point; prior to which he had a lesser snake summon that was only half the size of Manda?

Man I wonder if Madara has a summon other than the Juubi now...
