Lost his own fight (Minato totally owned him)
Lost his purpose for coming to Konoha (neither he could destroy Konoha nor he was able to retrieve Kurama from the village)...

So, in my PoV... That's one of the biggest defeats in manga...

If Obito never summoned Kurama then Minato never would of died

Minato ended up dying not to kurama killing him but to betting the future on Naruto. So if you guys want to play the indirect death game then Minato wins when Naruto Wins .

Quite opposite...
1- It wasn't Obito's skill or something, just fate and luck...
2- Minato actually succeeded as a shinobi but failed as a hero of many fans...

People can't realise the fact that Minato died because he intrusted future to Naruto.
And it's Minato's work that now Naruto is in BM and can protect all shinobi.
And I think that nobody in manga could handle situation as effective as Minato.

Minato clearly beat Obito one on one, but because he died to KARUMA, not obito some poeple think he was defeated by Obito, who lost control of Karuma, by the time the Kyubi killed minato.
