And not even knowing what they look like. You fall in love with them just because what's on their inside and for who they are.

Has this ever happened to you before? Or would you rather make sure that one person is your type and then decide to fall in love or not?

This is emotional love, not physical love. This type of attraction is based upon how you feel towards their personality, it is much more powerful and harder to break out of because you gain that emotional connection towards each other.

However, on the internet you have to be cautious. You dont know whos on the other side trying to take advantage, so regardless on how you feel. Its better to be safe than sorry.

Successful relationships can be thanked to internet dating sites because they match you up with someone whos not exactly 100% compatiable but probably 80%. I mean you dont want someone whos too perfect for you. Drama in a relationship is the foundation, the arguments, the disagreements is what makes a good relationship.

Love is the good and bad, which makes something so imperfect.... Perfect!

You shouldn't trust people anywhere be it online or offline, if you haven't gotten to know them. A person can be just as deceiving offline as they are online. In fact, being with someone physically is even more dangerous if we are speaking in terms of deception. Someone on the internet has very limited control. A physical presence can be powerful, don't underestimate it. A kiss, a touch, all of it can be used to deceive and trap the heart. Such a devious person can even rip one from the grip of friends, deafening their lover to all outside advice. It would be extremely difficult for someone to get this kind of control from just conversation over the internet. To all those that lack experience, we are all still human, and yes even on the internet, our true personality and intentions will surface over time. It is safer in a lot of ways. While they have access to our feelings, they lack physical power. With offline dating, a person has access to both, thus making it more dangerous.

Yes it has.

Well whenever someone falls in love, there's almost always aspects of that person that they don't know about. There will always be risks involved in love. No matter what. Humans are very curious about the unknown, that's how relationships start. The girl that sits next to you in class, you want to get to know her. Despite knowing very little about her, there's a feeling in your heart, and then you realize you have a crush. You may even feel kinda down if she starts dating someone else. But why? You don't even know her. Is this foolish? Who knows. But it's what makes us human and have been the commencement of a lot of relationships.

Also, it's funny how some of us look down on others for falling in love with a person online. Yet I'm sure that a lot of us fell in love with a particular book, a song, and even a 'childish' manga. All thoughts and words generated from another human being, nonetheless they have touched us in some way. Is this foolish? Who knows. Though as I said before, we are all human.

Online, a person's personality can still manifest itself in the form of words. And as described in my second paragraph, words have a way of touching us. Though it even goes a bit further, we know that the person is human, and is communicating with us. Not a book. In my first paragraph, I described our curiosity and crush on a person we have yet to know. And being online eliminates certain barriers like shyness, we can easily initiate the dating process. All of us think and act with our feelings, so thinking one way of commencing a relationship is foolish, since a lot of humans think and feel differently. If we all thought and felt the same, the world could be a very boring and unproductive place, it's the imagination and desires of many that brought us to this stage of living.

Also, I notice that some say they would never fall in love online. But there's a difference between "You would never fall in love online", and "You would never allow yourself to be put in that position". A lot of people that speaks like this just don't take the risk, they avoid it altogether.

It happened to me and I wasn't even trying. I know how she looked like but not the other way around. I guessed she loved me for who I was. Personality triumphs over appearance! She did saw my baby pics. :D

Never happened to me, but than again I never tried cuz I find the idea ridiculous. Physical attraction is necessary in a relationship, whoever claims it is not important is laying his ass off. Romance is just a fairy tail people dream up for themselves.

No one's claiming it's not important. What? You think people enter these relationships without plans to meet/see other? Ever in life? Spend the entire relationship like this?...No.

Yes, physical attractions are important. And I'm guessing when you say physical attractions, you mean things like touching, kissing and so on. Your statement crashes because you are fairy-tailing a dream where no one seeks physical attractions.

The concept that you find idiotic does not even exist.

Don't put words in my mouth. The point I was trying to make is that physical attraction is the crucial part of any relationship, and there's nothing without it. Of course you plan to meet one day, but what do you think will happen if the person you meet doesn't find you physically attractive. If you think she'll stay romantically involved with you because of your wonderful personality than you are living in a fairy tail. The same goes for you. What if the person you are meeting turns out to be a 600 pounds heavy, obese girl - can you honestly say that you would stay with her?

No offense man, but I assumed you meant that because it would have been more logical. Uhm....I and everyone else can just skype each other? You know, though web-cam? What a lot of people seem to be missing, is that the talking through messages and what not, is simply the initiation. As things get more serious, of course we are going to want chat through web-cam. Even a simple pic with the person holding a piece of paper that says "I love you, Julia" can be enough. But yeah, webcam is the thing nowadays.

Also, there's Facebook. Where most people has ton of friends commenting and so on, further proof of who they are.

Also, I'm sure you've seen a skinny person dating an overweight person before, or attractive people dating an unattractive person. Beauty differs for people.

Again, the messages are just the initiation. lol we can easily get proof of who they are.

I'm familiar with Skype, I was just reacting to the OP's post which says:

I don't believe in that, you'll have to see what the person looks like: Physical attraction comes first, than personality.

That's simply not true. I'm sure you've heard a lover say, "Well physically, he's not attractive. But his personality is beautiful!" Or something along those lines. If not, oh well. Either way, a girl can fall in love simply because the way the guy plays the guitar, or the way he sings. Hell, simply because he's the only guy that ever treated her nice. What you must understand is, attraction is subjective, people are attracted to different things.

You are deceiving yourself if you think everyone in this world falls in love with a person because they think they are physically attractive. That is naive.

It is you who is naive and believe everything girls say. And "he's not that attractive", is still attractive. I never said that attraction is the same for everyone, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as the saying goes - but attraction, whatever it may be, must exist. People don't just fall in love with each other's souls, it would be nice if they did, but they don't. Don't get me wrong, I want to believe and I'm not afraid to admit I like to loose myself in the romantic stories/movies now and than, but I'm also not blind and I have to accept the reality such as it is.
Guess, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

edit: I hope you're not writing a whole page worth of text, I have to go to sleep soon xd
