Some people believe Orochimaru is plotting something evil because he's been evil the whole time.
His reason for turning good is that, through Kabuto, he understood his ways weren't good.
It's been hinted for a while now that he's been reconsidering his opinions, this "turning point" has been foreshadowed but people seem to have ignored it. And that's the main reason I believe he really did turn good right there. Here are the pages that show us his doubts:
This is the first hint: looking at Kabuto. It's no big deal yet, really. But it's an opportunity for him to look at someone like himself. It's like he is taking a look in the mirror. His thoughtful expression shows us so:
Next page he announces he doesn't care about the war. He's neutral. That's one step ahead from being the evil villain who wants chaos:
Next few pages he says he wants to steal Sasuke's body, but immediately drops the act saying he's not strong enough yet and decides to listen to him instead. In this page he's seen thinking "For some reason, it feels strange"... what feels strange?
Chapter 618... he refuses Suigetsu's idea to destroy the Leaf because they are not "snake" anymore. He's referring to Sasuke's original group name "Hebi", they are now the Hawk... Orochimaru as well. In other words, Sasuke is now the leader and he will follow his steps to see what happens.
And this is one of the most obvious as well. I have the impression people paid no attention to these two images, but they're there for a reason.
It's shown that Orochimaru isn't just "evil" out of nowhere, just like Sasuke. He had a reason to hate Konoha. It's safe to assume that after being trapped in Kabuto and seeing his mistakes, he ended in the same situation as Sasuke: he wanted answers.
And the final one... people are suspicious of Orochimaru because of his "...." smile. But really, Kishi would've drawn the sequence in a different order if he wanted him to express treachery. He'd have made him say "Of course I'll join", and then have him make his evil grin. Here, he seems to make more of a defeated grin, accepting to help his former enemies.
Besides, think of the circumstances. Does Orochimaru even have what it takes to betray anyone at this point, when even Madara seems to be struggling?
In conclusion... Orochimaru is much of an older version of Sasuke. He sought revenge for reason we don't know yet, and hearing Hashirama's story helped him understand shinobi as well. They were both "lost" characters that have now found a reason to believe in the village again.
