Star Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers, and is joined by Anthony Mackie as Cap's partner Sam Wilson, aka Falcon. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing from a script by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. The Avengers' Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johnasson (Black Widow), Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill), and Maximiliano Hernandez (Agent Stillwell) are all in Cap 2.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick-up where Marvel’s The Avengers left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

The studio's press release says Robert Redford is playing "Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization." In the comics, Pierce served as the contact between Nick Fury and Tony Stark, and also tangled with Hydra.

Disney also confirmed that Revenge's Emily VanCamp is playing Agent 13, better known to comics fans as Sharon Carter, kin to Cap's WW2 flame Peggy Carter and a love interest of his as well. Also confirmed were Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow (aka Crossbones) and Georges St-Pierre as Georges Batroc (aka Batroc the Leaper).

Reprising their roles from Captain America: The First Avenger are Hayley Atwell and Toby Jones as Peggy Carter and Arnim Zola, respectively. Sebastian Stan, of course, is back as Bucky Barnes, aka the titular Winter Soldier.

Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch (Elysium, District 9), production designer Peter Wenham (21 Jump Street, Fast Five), editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. (Star Wars: Episode 7, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and three time Oscar-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky (The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone).
