Prologue

The Rinnegan is known as the Greatest Doujutsu out of the big three (Rinnegan, Sharingan, and Byakugan) however, many don't know the actual meaning of this Doujutsu, and it's abilities thus, I will explaining the following: How exactly did the Rinnegan come to be, and what are it's Origins.

Credit to Sir Derp Obito: Thanks for the pictures.

Origins

The Rinnegan's Origins are heavily related to the Buddhist Religion which talks about:

The Six Realms Of Samsara (Samsara meaning "The Wheel Of Life"):
Among Buddhists, all living beings are born into one of The Six States Of Samsara (Samsara in Sanskrit, the cycle of life and death). All are trapped in this wheel of life, as the Tibetans call it. All beings within the six realms are doomed to death and rebirth in a recurring cycle over countless ages -- unless they can break free from desire and attain enlightenment. Further, upon death, all beings are reborn into a lower or a higher realm depending on their actions while still alive. This involves the concept of Karma and Karmic Retribution. The lowest three states are called the three evil paths, or three bad states.

Pay attention to the underlined sentence in the quote "The lowest Three States Of Samsara are called The Three Evil Paths" these Three Evil Paths Are: Naraka, Preta, & Animal. That leaves the remaining Three Heavenly/Good Paths which are: Asura, Human, & Deva; these States Of Samsara make up the "Wheel Of Life or The Samsara".

Now let me explain the Six States Of Samsara:

The Three Evil Paths:
Beings In Hell: Naraka Path
Has the King Of Hell summoning, originates from the underworld:

Hungry Ghost: Preta Path
Absorbs chakra, therefore goes in terms with "hungry ghost":

Servitude: Animal Path
They have no control due to Nagato's chakra receivers; they serve their master:

The Three Heavenly Paths:
Demigods: Asura Path
Part human, part god, they are simply in between the two worlds; constantly in war explains Asura's modifications:

Enlightenment: Human Path
Enlightment is in their grasp, Human Path uses soul removal; literally the soul is in its hand:

God-like Beings: Deva Path
God-like powers, for a God-like Being, their powers blind them to the world of suffering, and fill them with pride:

However, there is one more state in which isn't mentioned, and that is Gedō; The Outer Path:
The Outer Path (外道, Gedō) is the seventh path, an ability granted to the wielder of the Rinnegan. With the Outer Path, the user is able to control life and death.

The Outer Path elaborates more on the "Wheel Of Life, or Samsara"; The ability to control life and death.. This leads us into what the Rinnegan truly is; "The Samsara Eye".

The picture above representing the "Wheel Of Life" has also got me thinking this: Yama or the God Of Death represents the Juubi, while as Buddha a God, represents The Sage Of Six Paths; Yin/Yang, Good, and Evil they cannot exist without the other; Thus, making the Wheel Of Life, and being The Rinnegan's Origins.

Conclusion

  • The Rinnegan's Origins have come from Buddhist Religion; The Six States Of Samsara, And the name in which the Rinnegan solely possess due to following the structure of the "Wheel Of Life; The Samsara Eye.

Thanks bro. Make sure to read it.

Make sure to read it; Btw I read your Tobirama thread. I thought it was spot on, I just never got to commenting because it was a while back.

It's a theory explaining it's origins. You obviously didn't read it though.
okay but whats the point how would this make any of us think less or more about rinnegan?
do you think half of the people say great post read this?

Thought we knew this already. Doesn't seem like much of a "theory."

Damn, bro. The amount of research you do for your theories is staggering.
