Can someone please tell me what year 'The Wolverine' is set in?

The Order is;

X-Men Origins
X-Men 1
X-Men 2
X-Men Last Stand

What movie does 'The Wolverine' come before/after???

it's the last one, in the trailer you see his romance with jean grey which occurred in the last stand movie so it's the most recent..... basically what he does after she dies

THEN, WOLVERINE vs SILVER SAMURAI (new movie that should come out 2013)

And the last 3 are Xmen 1, 2, Last Stand

Well since they are doing a reboot to the entire series of X-Men you can completely forget about X-Men 1-3 since they won't count for goat piss any longer so the actual time frame is mainly

x-men orgins: wolverine - before he met professor x and still rolling with his bro

x-men first class - after he lost his memory and hasn't met professor x

x-men - met professor x and joined the x-men

x2 - sequal to x-men nuff said

x-men last stand - sequal to x2 nuff said

the wolverine - he leaves x-men after jeans death to discover more of his past (jean grey was seen in the new trailer so it's after last stand)

they are not rebooting the series cause jean from last stand is seen in the wolverine trailer and the new x-men coming out is just a squeal to first class cause the same actors in the first film are casted in this one which is called days of future past

there is no proof he hadn't received his adamantium from the brief scene he was in and anyways origins shows logan and his bro when they were children far before the civil war in the beginning scenes and it over laps the first class movie but i count it first since it showed them as children and how they became who they were over the years

Wolverine: Origins takes place when the Three Mile Island incident happened. It's around this time frame when he loses his memories and gets his adamantium claws. The cameo that Logan played in First Class was during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

It's simple logic.
