But if your point of him awakening it to protect izuna is true then what of hashi's point of him awakening it because of him losing it as a friend. either way he was about to say he ahd it before but stopped to prevent revealing his clan.

Madara didnt want great involvement in war, so he hid sharingan.
Madara didnt want to risk his brother life, so he said hashirama was stronger.
--its safe to say madara is a peacelover like itachi...(big brothers don't want little brothers to get hurt)
--Madara's older brothers all died...
--He doesn't want to die and not be able to protect izuna...
--Tajima makes them fight because now they have no choice(in their minds)

basically they fight for eachother to the fullest and to outdo eachother in a way..

my original guesses were
- madara didn't have one yet, but was bragging about being an uchiha with potential to unlock it.
-he just unlocked it when he went to save izuna from hashirama
-he didn't want people after his sharingan. ( uchiha or senju)
-izanagi/izanami= he heard bout older uchiha being arrogant/ he doesn't want to be like that.
(maybe his dead older brothers were arrogant and died taken their opponents too lightly)
-kept it a secret because your not supposed to tell the enemy clans about yourself.(strangers)
-maybe the family thought madara was too soft to kill..(im shrugging my shoulders)hehe
my new guess is this: why madara didn't reveal he had a sharingan(or kept it a secret)
because if his father Tajima knew he had a Sharingan
He would make Madara fight on the battlefield in the war....and madara didn't want to...

Something tells me you didn't comprehend what I wrote.
Izuna can fight in the war more than madara if madara's natural abilities are greater than izuna's, but
izuna can go out with Tajima and have plenty more battles than madara as a father son duo in the war.
maybe madara could have stayed at home to train while izuna/tajima went to fight.
not a contradiction. Obviously madara had enough time to hang out with hashi while others fought.
Madara either just awakened it, or hid it because he didn't want to fight more in the war , OR
for unknown reasons. Also after losing brothers, he doesn't want to lose anymore ie: Izuna.
Madara wanted peace, you would know that if you understood the conversations he had with hashirama.
