Both nagato and itachi are top tiers.
While nagato has better stamina and godly techniques, itachi too has hax moves.
Nagato deserves the title of more powerful due to overall power, versatility, and raw stamina.
But itachi too has good cards to play and can kill nagato, exploiting his genjutsu weakness, lack of mobility, and interval between techniques.

Overall nagato stronger, but itachi can kill him too, all depends on scenarios

This image proves that Kirabi can kill Itachi 1 vs 1. Non-Edo Itachi would have been killed by the knife Kirabi threw since he wouldn't have Nagato to deflect it.

Kirabi also has more stamina and speed than Itachi, which means Kirabi can avoid Susano'o until Itachi runs out of fuel for it. Since Susano'o is out, Kirabi can kill Itachi with a TBB Barrage.
Kishi also stated that Pein was the strongest Akatsuki member, even while Itachi was alive, so yes, Nagato>Itachi.

I find it stupid to question, nagato's stamina. 6 puppets, many techniques, huge summons, huge ST, Huge CT, rinne rebirth whole village at the end. Madara claimed he was only1 to summon gedo mazo, his stamina is only 2nd to hashi/madara possibly obito, top 4 for sure
