People seem to be bringing the fact that Itachi didn't want to fight Jiraiya because he didn't want to cripple Konoha. I disagree. I think Kishimoto pulled the good guy card out late into the series' development.
What did Itachi actually do to help Konoha?
He did not stop Pain.
He did not kill Orochimaru.
He distracted Jiraiya to get to Naruto.
People say his statement about Jiraiya is false because he did not want to hurt him. Okay?
Why did he use Tsukuyomi on Kakashi then? Kisame was surprised Kakashi was still alive. Without Tsunade healing him he might not be anymore. If Itachi was a good guy, why did he maim Kakashi like that? He had -NO- way of knowing Tsunade can heal him.
So he does not want to fight Jiraiya 'cuz he loves dat Leaf, but he mind rapes Kakashi? Doesn't make sense to me.
Also, if Itachi was so certain that he can fight Jiraiya, why did he use Amaterasu to get out of the toad's esoph agus? Clearly if he was stronger he wouldn't need to damage his eyesight and his health to escape. He had Kisame, too.
