I have this theory that indeed Sasuke and Naruto will have one final epic fight between them, but the manga itself will still have at least one more fight left before the end. There will be a fight between Naruto and Sakura that will be epic. PROOF: if it was anything but, it would just be anticlimactic for the series, and we know Kishimoto is a genius and he treats his heroines right. Plus, all of the foreshadowing going on since the very beginning of the series points toward some pretty heavy development for Sakura; perhaps a massive powerup or something. We will just have to see.
Here is what I think will happen. I made this discovery when I was trying to find out what happened to Sakura the last time that we saw her, and I think I found her. You just have to remember Kakashi's lesson that "a ninja must be able to read what's underneath the underneath"
Remembering this, I started looking. Lo and behold I made my discovery.
Kishimoto drew Sakura behind the edge of the panel, I just had to look behind a few of them but I found her.
Now, remember how Sakura was Tsunade's student, and the three members of Team 7's roles seem to parallel the Legendary Sages, in how they were all apprenticed to each of them. What I think this incident on the battlefield is, is a catalyst for Sakura's next powerup. She will transcend DEATH ITSELF, perhaps by awakening a skill she aquired during the timeskip and now will be required to call upon; a jutsu derived from, and even better than Tsunade's Yin Seal: Release. It will be target-shaped, and she will never die on the battlefield. She will be able to come closer to death than any survivor, and in near-death she will discover the means for seizing on the key for breaking the endless cycle of war and an artery that exists between life and death that is the source of all chakra in the Universe. With it she can summon Shannaro the Buddhist God of a Thousand Fists who grasps truth tightly in each of its palms and whose punches are heavier than life itself. This truth is also like sand: opening the palm will cause all grains of the truth to sift away forever, so the hand remains tightly clenched. Pounding fists is symbolic of the futile attempt at the exchange of truth.
Now to the battle itself. We know that Sakura is hitting Naruto all the time but Naruto is too docile to defend himself. Highly-skilled ninjas can read each other's hearts with their fists but because Naruto doesn't fight Sakura back she will never be able to deliver her message. How this battle I anticipate will happen will unfold is, Sakura will have to drive Naruto into a corner. Seeing how powerful he is now, she will have to call on all of her strength in order to become the greatest threat so that he will be forced to stop her. This is when she will succeed in delivering her message, and the Shinobi Curse will be broken.
Her biggest obstacle will be herself because she'll be afraid he will get hurt, but then she will remember something that Sai once told her that she had forgotten: that she has faith in Naruto. Naruto's infatuation is a device (Kishimoto is a genius) to prevent this kind of confrontation between them so he can hold off any battles until the right time comes and surprise us with the most epic of twists. Kishi is so smart to have planned all this from the very beginning. At least from the third chapter. What makes it even more epic is that the confrontation will be between two people with a bond like theirs. It's almost like the bond between Sasuke and Naruto only a more romantic kind. It's so cool how stories just fall together like that but knowing Kishi he knew what he was doing from the start.
Here is my undeniable proof that the two of them will exchange punches, foreshadowed since the series' infancy. I mean, they literally are covered in targets.
I realize this is a bit long-winded but thanks for reading my post this far through.
