I think it's a possibility that Jiraiya was a Senju and the father of Konohamaru. Now we don't know many Sarutobi yet and we know Asuma was his Uncle.
Look at this picture of Team Hiruzen, you see Jiraiya and Hiruzen have the same dashes coming down from their eyes and they have extremely similar hairstyles.
Now some could chalk this up to Jiraiya trying to look like his teacher, which is also a possibilty, but there are a few other connections that could easily let kishi make Jiraiya a Sarutobi.
His surname has still never been given, which leaves all possibilities open. He has Fire nature which all 3 Sarutobi's whose natures we know have, he has the same two natures as Hiruzen while Asuma only has fire in common with his own father. Not that this really means he is but it's evidence he could be related.
Then Jiraiya and Konohamaru have the same bloodtype according to the databook, which again doesn't make it so but gives support to the idea.
Jiraiya was known for traveling and getting "research for his books right? maybe he had an encounter had a kid and was never told or was a deadbeat dad and since he was a sannin who was gonna question him he could beat everyone in the village.
I'm not saying for certain that Jiaraiya is a Sarutobi or the father of Konohamaru but Kishi certainly has left it open if he decides to go that route.
