ABOMINATION!
WE DO NOT SPEAK OF JAR JAR BINKS.

Seriously though, the prequels were annoying. The only part I liked was the last 20 minutes of Episode III.

They destroyed the image of Lord Vader. Turned him into an angsty teen. He was supposed to be the epitome of a calm and collected badarse Sith, not a male Snooki who continually throws hissy fits and murders younglings just because Sidious willed it.

Anakin was called a good friend in a New Hope, but in the prequels he shows no other emotion than frustration and constantly lashes out at anyone and everyone like a 15 year old girl.

The jedi are portrayed as a bunch of useless blokes other than a few exceptions. The jedi image we knew from the first three movies was awesome. They were something akin to monks; knowledgeable, accepting, graceful, in harmony with the force and extremely powerful. Then Lucas went and turned them into fodder front line soldiers and explained their power levels with midichlorians. Really? Midichlorians?!
That means that with a simple blood transfusion anyone could gain extreme power.

Disregarding that, the jedi who are oh so good at sensing a disturbance in the force in the original series couldn't forsee a coup overthrowing the whole f*cking republic. Anyone with political insight or common sense should have been able to do that.

Cute little Ani didn't have a father! He was concieved by the force?! Come on!
Additionally, Ani-kun decided to become an arsehole and f*ck with the galaxy because of a dream he had, which is a totally retarded reason.

Anyways...
I'm not completely against the prequels, I just find them unsatisfactory when compared with IV-V-VI. They piss all over some very important concepts that were formed by the originals and the books. They seem too forced, the plots and storylines seem too shallow and the excessive use of CGI actually annoyed me.

The only good things that came out of them were Darth Maul, the introduction of the Zabrak race on screen, the Obi Wan vs Anakin final fight scene and the ending, the birth of Vader.

midichlorians are like genes you can't get them by a blood transfusion. This evolution from being an annoying little prat like you say to being the "cool" bad ass he becomes later shows how much padme's death affected him and how much he fell. I believe he wasn't THAT annoying. I love all star wars movies, but contrary to you and ALOT of people i actually like the prequels more. I like the new storylines and tidbits lucas added in, it didnt ruin past lore it made it better.Again stop being haters!!!!!

Nah, midichlorians are actual living organisms. It's explained in the Phantom Menace's novel. It's also explained that while a blood high in midichlorians can stabilise the situation of a heavily wounded being (General Grievous), they can't be transferred permanently due to some hogwash reasoning. But, this fact still doesn't stop Darth Drear in Red Harvest to seek the heart of a jedi to infuse himself with midichlorians. That arc alone goes completely against the explanation they gave.

I think I just realised why many geeks dislike the prequels.
I've noticed that the majority of those who favour the prequels are not that interested in the Star Wars universe. They love the movies, but they don't look that deep into the whole history of Star Wars. Which is very understandable due to the SW universe being so vast.

As a parallel example, if you're an actual Naruto nerd, minor timeline errors like the Academy being formed before Tsunade's birth will drive you up the wall, while others probably won't even think twice about it.

It's the same with Star Wars. The force was supposed to be an unexplainable happening that balanced throughout the universe. Then Lucas went and said ''Hullo. The amount of power you have is actually determined by your midichlorian levels.'' This fact alone drove people nuts, so they tried to explain it in the book claiming that midichlorians were actually things akin to microscobic parasites. Then transfusion debates started, it was said that it was impossible to gain more power by doing so but then Drear went and tried to gain midichlorians which annoyed the readers even more.

The movies alone, although are annoying in my personal opinion, don't create much of a problem, the fact that they go against many established facts in the SW universe do. That's the reason avid followers tend to dislike them.
