peter jackson did it again. It was done well, and for the most part very accurate. Of course there were parts that were added, but most were in the realm of canon. I heard that jackson used a lot of the similarion in this movie. And to all the haters of the "trilogy", consider this....do you honestly want just one 2 hour long movie....while im not sure how it will be stretched into a trilogy, even i realize that they need to make at least 2 movies. As long as the trilogy is done well, it is worth it. And so far so good. (btw i was a lotr fan before i ever saw the movies....it only became greater after i saw the movies.....

and i took my dad who thought he wasnt going to like it, and he enjoyed it.

The hobbit was as good as i expected. It was more of a comedy, but it still had the action etc. Essentially i think it was done well.

It was absolutely wonderful! I loved the fast paced story line. Not one moment was milked out. Great graphics, camera work, acting...

Saw it today in theaters in 3d, it was stunning and filled my expectations.
I still favour the 3 Lotr movies more tho, the hobbit was much more relaxed and not so serieus as lotr wich was to be expected ofcourse.
Seeing this move gives me hope that 1 day The Silmarillion (wich is absolutely the pinnacle of Tolkiens work) will be made into movies.

The Hobbit

what i really didnt like in this movie is that they used CGI to create the goblins and orcs. they looked much better in the lord of the rings trilogy with cosmetics and prosthetic's. hoping in the next 2 movies they'll use cosmetic and prosthetic's for some of the orcs. overall it was a good movie not great but good

hopefully this trilogy will be like the lord of the rings trilogy. the movies get better through each one. well thats my opinion about the LOTR trilogy. others might disagree

well anyways. just a thought i'd share. have a good day and enjoy your weekend everyone

Adding fillers to the work of the greatest author of all time? A true travesty.

The movie was extremely slow and anyone who read the book would notice how much low grade stuff they added to it. Adding additional wizards other than Gandalf was extremely strange and not a great addition in my opinion. Overall, I was disappointed with it.

My son is crazy about that song! lol

Really liked the movie.

I was more annoyed for changes they made in the Ring trilogy.
At least they didn't add filler to it. How could they have kept the ending the same? If they followed the book, the ending would have been terribly anti-climactic. The changes made to LOTR were essential to being a successful blockbuster.
