Tell me what do you know about wind, both narutoverse-wise and in rl. And tell me what does it mean to you and which feelings does it associate with when you think of it.

In general wind is the movement of air. Depending on its speed it can be a soft breeze or powerful enough to move big sailing ships across the oceans.
Wind, or Fūton, is also one of the five basic elemental nature transformations. Asuma told Naruto that creating wind chakra is like splitting the chakra into two and grinding them against each other to make them as sharp and thin as possible. Many wind techniques are offensive and cause precise slahing/cutting damage or use the power of moving masses of air to push the opponent back. Also, Fūton chakra can be channeled into blades to enhance their cutting ability.
Wind jutsus can be used in cojuction with water, increasing the speed and thus the destructive force of water techniques, or with fire, feeding the flames and increasing the size and damage of fire techniques. The last point also explaines why wind is weak against fire. On the other hand Fūton is superior to lightning, because air is a natural insulator, thus stopping the spreading of electricity.
Wind is a component of the kekkei genkai Ice release (+water) and the kekkei tōta Dust release (+fire and earth).

What wind means to me? That's a good question... I never really thought about it... Well, during summer I associate wind with a welcomed gentle, fresh breeze, that makes the heat bearable. In winter, to me, it is more like an icy touch that increases the allready existing cold.

Alright, pretty good, I like it. Now, as you probably already know, these are chakra papers. They react to your chakra. I will give you one and you will place it in between your hands and try to channel your wind chakra into it. If you succeed the paper should split in half. Make sure to think about the wind and it's properties in the process, otherwise you'll fail.

Allright...

*I take the piece of chakra paper and place it in the palm of my left hand, placing my right palm ontop of it. I then gather chakra, channel it through my chakra network and into my hands while remebering the properties of wind, its speed and powerbut also the flow and precision. As I picture them in my mind I try to apply them to my chakra by banning all the other thoughts from my mind and focusing on those features. Suddenly my chakra feels colder than usual, flows faster and also feels sharp, as if it tries to cut through my chakra network. While I still concentrate on the properties of wind and the flow of my chakra, I channel the chakra into the paper between my palms and continue to stand still for a few seconds, thinking of nothing but moving air. When I finally lift my right hand and take a look at the chakra paper, I see two pieces lying on my left palm, devided by a small gap.*

Did I do it? O:

Yes you did. Very well. Now take out a kunai from your pouch and infuse it with your wind chakra and then throw it at the tree over there. When you're ready tell me and I'll throw a regular kunai and then tell me the difference. Oh, if you don't have any kunai of your own I can give you.

Thanks but I have my own kunai. It's somewhere here... or not... I'm sure I took one with me when I came here. Ah, here it is!

*I take out a kunai from my pouch and hold it firmly in my right hand. As I do that I start to gather chakra and mold it, by applying the properties of wind to it, like I did before. I then channel the wind chakra through my right arm and into the kunai.*

I guess I'm ready.

*As I say that I can see you taking out a kunai. I then focus on my task and throw the infused kunai at the tree, at chest level. I watch both kunai fly towards the tree and mine seems to travel faster, due to the wind chakra. As it hits the tree, it pierces right through the stem and continues to fly until it collides with a stone but still thrusts some centimeters into it. When my kunai allready pierced through the stem, yours is about to hit the tree. Although the impact is less impressive, your kunai is able to pierce through the bark and sticks in the stem.*

I'd say the differences are increased speed and enhanced piercing/cutting ability, because I infused mine with wind chakra. The chakra sharpened it, so it didn't lose much speed while it trevelled through the air and was able to cut through the tree with ease.

Excellent. :)

Now using your chakra create a gust of wind that will spread dust through the battlefield. The dust can either accumulate on different objects and become a hard "stepping" zone (LOL) or you can use the gust to throw the dust into your opponents eyes and blind him.

Thank you, Sempai ^_^

*I gather some chakra within my body and mold it, by applying the properties of wind to it. I then channel the chakra into my lungs, while I inhale some air and release it by exhaling a gust of wind, that covers a lagre area of the training ground with dust. That layer of dust covers trees, the surface of stones and rocks and a wide part of the ground, making it difficult to get a good grip while moving, especially at high speeds.*

Good enough. You learned your first wind jutsu.

(Fūton: Fūsajin no Jutsu) - Wind Release: Dust Wind Technique
Type: Defence
Rank: D
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user creates a gust of wind that layers an area in loose sand and dust. Doing so also acts as a sandblaster on the surrounding area. This layer of sand that accumulates on the trees during this technique makes it difficult for others to get a good footing. The initial gust can also temporarily blind opponents by lodging sand in their eyes

Now, for the next jutsu I need you to create a small gust of wind in front of you, that will act as a wall, strong enough to push back objects thrown at you.

*I gather some of my chakra within my stomach and after molding it I channel the created wind chakra through my chakra network and into my lungs. I then exhale a small gust of wind and manipulate the chakra to make it spin in front of me, creating a wall of wind that protects me from thrown objects and taijutsu attacks, by pushing everything back that makes contact with the wind.*

Excellent.

(Fūton: Sensougouheki) - Wind Release: Rumbling wind wall
Rank: D
Type: Attack/Defence
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: User creates a wall of spinning wind in front of him that is used to push back weapons thrown towards him. It can also be used against taijutsu close range attacks, but the wall can be pushed back with a stronger wind jutsu or if a smoke bomb or explosive tag touches the spinning wind they will automatically get activated because of the sharpness of the wind element, damaging the user also.
_

(Fūton: Kaze Ogawa no Jutsu) - Wind Release: Wind Stream Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 10
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique allows the user to change direction in mid-air at high speeds by simply blowing wind out their mouth. The user can also use this technique by blowing it at the ground and causing a dust cloud to rise, concealing the users location and movement.

Awesome technique. If you ever find yourself in free fall or in a bad position while in mid air, you can simply blow out wind from your mouth and change your direction. You can also use it while standing on the ground and if you're on a dusty, non-grassy field. Simply blow wind and make it pick up the dust to conceal your actions.

Wanted to learn it ever since Kiritsugu told me about that technique :D

----------------

*Remembering that I covered the training ground with dust earlier, I look across the plain field and start to gather chakra with my stomach. I then apply the properties of wind to the gathered chakra and channel it through my chakra network and into my lungs, where I pressurize it to make it denser. Once that is done I release the chakra as a stream of wind from my mouth and direct it at the ground whirling up some dust. As that happens I turn my head to my right to make more dust rise into the air, by moving the gust of wind across the ground. Eventually a large cloud of dust forms in front of me, that would hide all my actions from my opponent.*

---------------

Just tell me if you want me to perform the second way of using it, too.

Great, no need. You'll do it with this technique as they're pretty much the same. :) Love the avy btw. Jesse rulz.

(Fūton: Kaze Iwa Rendan) - Wind Release: Wind Rock Barrage
Rank: D
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 10
Damage points: 20
Description: The user creates a huge stream of wind that carries rocks that lifts the opponent into the air where the rocks hit them.

So, as I already said for the previous technique, you can blow out a gust of wind that will pick up the rocks and send them towards your opponent.

Um, hey... I'm sorry for being inactive without letting you know and apologize for that. Also, thanks for notifying me and giving me the chance to reply, I appreciate that! :) So, if you're ok with it I'd like to continue ^^

-----------

*Back at the training grounds I listen to your instructions while gathering and molding some of my chakra. I then channel the wind chakra into my lungs and release it in form of a fast powerful stream of wind from my mouth and direct it towards the ground. As I move my head, the stream of wind moves across the ground. Due to its density and power it lifts a rock from the ground eventually and I send it flying against a tree in front of me.*

Good, so you get the principle behind most wind techniques; repetitive blowing air, spinning, streams, vortexes, tornadoes and alike. So what I usually do is, once I get past the most basic D rank techniques, we move onto C rank but with a different way of training. I take it that all my students have a healthy brain and that they can read and understand what they're reading, thus knowing how to perform the technique by just reading its description. Now, there still might be some questions about some techniques, size, speed and stuff like that, that you're unsure about so I will try to answer those for you. We'll go with 2 jutsus per post and I'd like you to ask a question you're unsure about for each of them. If you can find pictures of the jutsu on narutopedia, it will be awesome and halve the amount of questions you have, once you see how the jutsu looks like. If you agree, I will post the jutsus and we can start. Questions?

Sounds reasonable, I think I can handle that method :) And seeing pictures will definitely help a lot, so no more questions.

(Fūton: Reppūshō) - Wind Release: Gale Palm
Rank: C
Type:Attack/Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: A simple technique that when the users hands are clapped together, wind is compressed and transformed into a powerful gale. This technique, when used as an isolated attack has the power to easily knock over a human. Though the true value comes from using it together with projectile weapons like shuriken or kunai. Their speed, power, and ability to wound or even kill are all increased several times.

So, a simple technique which you can use to push the opponent back or to increase the speed of your projectiles, both weapons and, for example, fire and water bullets. You get your hands together and gather wind chakra. As you release it, you use shape manipulation to compress it and then you blast it outwards, towards the opponent.

(Fūton: Kaiten Shuriken) - Wind Release: Rotating Shuriken
Rank: C
Type:Attack
Range:Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points:30
Description: This technique will infuse wind-based chakra into bladed weapons. The user can than manipulate the blades in a spinning manner to attack the target.

Again very simple. While holding a kunai or shuriken, you can infuse it with wind chakra and then you launch it at your opponent. With your chakra, you get control over the weapon and you can make it spin.

(Fūton: Reppūshō) - Wind Release: Gale Palm

That technique brought up a general question... How fast are kunai/shuriken when thrown at someone and how fast are they after enhanced with (Fūton: Reppūshō) - Wind Release: Gale Palm? Let's say the distance is 10 meters (mid range), how much time would there be to counter the move with and without increased speed?

(Fūton: Kaiten Shuriken) - Wind Release: Rotating Shuriken

Can I use the chakra only to make the weapons spin or do I get more control over them, like influencing the direction while they travel?

1) Heh, it's hard for me to talk about numbers but if you've seen the anime you should know that. Just for the sake of an example let's say that the normal moves at 1x speed and the enhanced at 1.5x speed. Imagine yourself, throwing a rock at a distance of 10m. How much time would you need? A second or two, I guess.

2) I believe that you have a bit of control but not to completely change it's trajectory, just to make it, for example, travel in a slightly circular manner.

Dang! >_< Throwing a rock is a great example! Can't believe I didn't think of something similar :sy:
The difference between "normal" and "enhanced" speed was my main concern. But I think I get it now.

In case it's used agains't me, I would still be able to track the weapons, even without a dōjutsu, right?

That's what I assumed. Complete control would be a little much, I guess ^^
