I recently just read the recent Fairy Tail chapter, which was a steaming pile of crap. That chapter is full of Nakama Power.

So I wanna ask the question, how do you feel about Nakama Power in Naruto?

Nakama power definition:
When a character gets a power up when thinking about their friends.

Example: Naruto making 1000 clones against Gaara and Mizuki.

I'm not too big on it but it's a shonen jump manga so it doesn't surprise me when the characters suddenly get stronger when a friend is in danger, it's kinda the norm now.

It can be a good trope when it's not used ad nauseam in the story, if every fight there's some kind of nakama crap, it becomes very annoying and ruins the story, It's like I can't take it seriously anymore.

I like it actually.

Remember naruto is also viewed by younger kids and in today's world the meaning of 'friendship' is being ruined.
Fair enough its a bit silly that you go OP from friendship but its true. You do gain strength from a lost one or simply a friend being injured.

Back to my point of friendship being ruined in today's world. It is.
A friend is someone who never let's you down, a friend always has your back and won't leave you in a mess.
To be honest, if I use this against my friends.. I have 1or 2.

Now, writers are trying to get the point across that caring about your friends and family makes you stronger, that its the right way to go about things.

You may not agree but you asked what I thought, so let's debate if you disagree. =)

Yerh kind of agree, it is very unrealistic that you suddenly jump in power because of friends in danger, but if there is a reason behind I do not mind it. Like when Sasuke nearly died against Haku and Naruto jumped in power, becuase he has Kurama inside him. If Naruto was not an jinchuuriki and jumped in power like that, it would just be stupid and not make any sense at all

it happens in real life...there are many stories, of when a person loved is in danger, of people doing things that would normally be impossible hence the "nakama power up"

So the power ups are not bs, they are simply the characters, useing 100% of what they got to momentarily gain a powerup, to save someones life.

It depends how the writer goes about doing it. Honestly it does become a real bore if it gets too repetitive but it's okay once in a while. Even then I don't think it should increase to stupidly high multipliers or anything. Some writers give these characters a double edged sword for these kind of things (eg. Naruto using FRS in base) which usually work out better when it comes to determination.
