he thought nothing of the tailed beasts but weapons and sources of power. It's strange that he seemed to be a shinobi of admirable morals and values, yet he treated the bijuu so poorly just because they were creatures. These are all safe assumptions.

He lived at a time of constant war, I don't think he had the time or patience to understand their true value.

That's because the Bijuu are mindless creatures outside of a Jinchuriki. In my opinion, he did nothing wrong. I mean, I can't honestly sit here and criticize a fictional character for mistreating a fictional animal when I'm about to eat a meal in real life with meat.

Besides, I'm sure if a bunch of giant demon like creatures begin to rampage on the planet, befriending and getting to know them WON'T be on your mind much.

LOL I'm about to eat meat as well. Hamburgers. I'm not a vegetarian at all and never will be. I was just saying for a character who is supposed to be looked at as a benevolent person, Hashirama wasn't completely good.

Maybe. Maybe not.

The reason he did what he did was because of madara using the ninetails as a weapon. the solution was to seal them inside yourself as the sage did the juubi. he sealed kurama in his own wife who if u recall treated kurama rather well. I cant speak for him but im sure his intention was for them to be treated as bee treats hachibi but he cant control other shinobi as we see wit tobirama. i think he had the right idea akatsuki aka madara fd it all up tho.

its always something with that guy

I agree with rikerslade, as usual.

OT: There was basically no other option. "Hey guys, do you all need a hug and just to talk?"

The guy started the tradition of sealing giant monsters into mentally unstable children, making them living weapons. Not to mention a lot of people seem to be able take on said monsters one-on-one, essentially making the whole process worthless.

Hurray for Hashirama.

People were afraid of tailed beast mainly because they didn't know much about them.......
Kuruma was controlled by Madara's sharingan so it was obvious it must have been considered a serious threat and lack of knowledge might have made it worse

that's because the tailed beast were not intelligent creatures but masses of chakra. They attained intelligence after being sealed inside their jinchuuriki. So trying to befriend a giant creature who can destroy mountains is kinda hard, especially during war.

Umm based off this scan he didn't seem to take joy in restricting their freedom, but found that it was inevitable for the greater good...

It's not as if Madara treated them any better. Let's be honest, the beasts themselves are not the most personable...and if you could control them without having to befriend them like Naruto managed to do, wouldn't you rather do that? I wouldn't really call his a personality flaw either...
