What a crazy fictional story. Can you imagine, hiding in a giant horse...just crazy
Imagine if someone cut one while everyone was waiting.

I've read the Illiad. Of course I know the story of Troy. That's the only actual attempt to account for Troy. It's not realistic. Nobody is impregnable with the exception of an area at their heel. That's horse crap. Being shot through the chest is plausible. It's called a remake for a reason. They get to use creative liberties. Which in this case made the movie immensely better.
Yes taking something that is several thousand years old and rewriting it for the stupid people who are ignorant of world history. Yep that totally makes a better movie

The Illiad goes in great length to not be historically accurate. These people weren't actually the sons of gods running around killing entire armies by themselves. There's only a bare minimum that's actually historically accurate about an epic ballad by Homer.

Have you ever read a really good book that was turned into a shitty movie?

Like Eragon for example.

That's what Troy was, I felt my intelligence slip when I watched that movie.

And a course god's aren't real, it was Greek literature which is a part of world history you can't take so many liberties to dumb it down for the audience.

If people wanted the actual version, they have the ability to go read the Illiad at any point they want. If they're going to watch a movie called Troy, which is not the Illiad, they don't have to watch something that's exactly word for word accurate. You're making far too big a deal of the differences between the two. It really wasn't played down as much as you think. Pride was still the greatest hubris of Achilles. Agememnon's ambition and vanity still brought about his demise.

The messages in the movie were virtually the same, and as such, your complaints don't really hold up as valid.

How is the message in the movie even closely related to be the same? they took an ancient piece of text and just turned it into a hey look at Brad Pitt and Orlando bloom. By the way I'm not complaining just pointing out the stupidity of the movie as a whole.

If you can't understand that it's fine, I won't hold it against you.

You seem to have a consistent lack of an ability to read the points people bring against you.

Whatever, not worth my time.

Haha, yeah. That was an aspect of Greco-Roman society that this one wasn't too comfortable with showcasing. XD

And that was supposed to be Patroklos, right? They always referred to him as "Achilles Dearest Friend" during the Illiad.
Yeah it's too taboo to touch. Just like how 300 left out what the Spartans really liked to do during training lol. I loved how they made Paris look super whimpy though, fits how the Greeks viewed Persians anyway.

Saw it in theaters back when it came out. Not a FANTASTIC movie, but I like it and watch it again from time to time.

Achilles was help by his heal and dipped into magical well and the only part that didn't cover his body was his heal.. hence Achilles heal is what lead to his down fall. Troy is amazing the conduct of its fall is still unknown for a fact, but for the time the structure and defensive Stature were unrivaled and they were still destroyed. That legend lead to a very famous novel one of the best stories in history

Less trolling, more reading? Ijs. The Iliad ends with Hector's death and not the sacking of Troy.

I think you are in the wrong forum. I also promise that no matter how much you try you will never make a Rasengan.
I don't exactly understand how you missed this point while reading it but it was not supposed to be realistic?

Oh, the movie sucked.

You seemed to have missed the point of the discussion. The movie was to be a more believable take on the Illiad. It fulfilled that. And that's one reason I like it better than the actual Illiad.

Just because something is fiction doesn't mean it can't benefit from some realism.

I will quote again then:

Your post suggests that you have not read the actual Illiad, but let's just say that you have and it was many many years ago.
The movie was not to be a more believable take on the Illiad because there is nothing believable on Illiad anyway, apart from the historical event (war). All rest is poetry. That was my point.

There is a difference between taking some liberties (like the TV series in 1997 about Odysseus) and filming a historical travesty.

Is the entirety of this base like talking to a brick wall? If the Illiad wasn't made to be more believable, clearly the movie is. Ergo, my point stands.

Achilles did die from being wounded in his one weak point; the heel. I have no idea why you bring that fact up like I'm flawed. That is how he died. You can't really debate that. It's a constant presence in pretty much all translations of the Illiad.

Oh so everyone else here is an idiot and you are the only one with common sense. Let's play connect the dots!

Ergo, your point is bs.

And let's both not reply in this thread no more.
