Been a while xd Yeah, I'm still doing this even if it isn't doing as well as my other fic. Meh, enjoy!
Soft footsteps carried both Narutos through the busy streets of their famous hometown. The 12-year-old had used the Transformation Technique to cloak his appearance. Instead of looking like a blonde hyperactive twelve year old dressed in bright orange, he looked a bit more gentle and calm. His hair was a dull shade of ebony, as it cascaded disorderly down his head. His orange get-up was discarded in favor of a black shirt and white pants, complete with black colored sandals. The younger blonde, now black-haired, took the opportunity to examine the village, keenly searching for any sort of significant change. His gaze shifted meticulously in every direction until his eyes finally settled at a conspicuous oddity in the form of a large arena, positioned quite noticeably somewhere in the village. “What's that?” he asked his older self who was staring straight ahead, his bright azure eyes not focused on anything in particular, a small smile on his face.
The older blonde shifted his gaze to the large structure which his younger self had called his attention to. “Oh, that? That's the battle arena. There's one in every major village. Shinobi fight there on weekends. It's mostly for training but sale of tickets usually makes the Five Great Nations a hefty amount of money. Plus the vig on official gambling.”
“Wow.” exclaimed the younger.
“It was my idea.” commented the older blonde, looking smug as a haughty smile stretched across his face. “Shinobi have turned to many new ways of making money ever since I passed the 'NK Code'”
“Huh? What's that?” the 12 year old Naruto asked, a quizzical look on his face.
“The NK Code is the No Killing Code of shinobi. All shinobi villages are now in an alliance so it's illegal for any shinobi to kill another. Naturally, this has called a small decline in missions since assassinations, our most expensive jobs, are not always feasible as they usually result in battles between our most skilled shinobi. Death usually results from such high level confrontations. So, as a rule, no shinobi village is allowed to take on an assassination if another shinobi village has already accepted a mission to protect the intended target. Also, no shinobi village is allowed to protect a target that another shinobi village has been hired to kill. ANBU are still allowed to kill criminals, however, capturing them is usually first priority. They've been busy these days since shinobi are now more prone to defect from their villages than ever before. They become traitors in order to cash in on the missions that the shinobi villages have refused to undertake.”
“Wow. Sounds bad.”
Older Naruto chuckled, a bit surprised that his younger self had managed to grasp everything he explained. No wonder Kakashi usually called him the Number One Most Unpredictable Ninja. “It's getting better.” he comforted, beaming with a smile. “People are now afraid to hire those criminals so that they don't end up becoming enemies to the Shinobi Alliance. It is, after all, the most powerful military force in existence. The ANBU under Kakashi-sensei's guidance are swiftly apprehending all traitor ninja so the criminals are dwindling fast. Soon, the peace which Dad, Ero Sennin and many others had dreamed of will be a reality. We are on the verge of perfecting true peace!” he exclaimed excitedly.
“What's an Ero Sennin?”
Older Naruto broke into uncontrollable laughter, roaring with mirth. “That's...a long story kiddo. He's one of the greatest shinobi who ever lived, that's for sure. Without him, we wouldn't be Hokage.”
“Wow, he must be pretty cool!” screamed the younger, loudly adding the '-ttebayo' suffix that normally accompanied Naruto's speech.
“Not so loud. People will realize that you're me if you keep saying 'dattebayo'” cautioned his older self while playfully ruffling the lad's bright yellow hair, which was currently a smooth black due to the Transformation technique, as they strolled along at a leisurely pace.
“Sorry.” the younger lad apologized, hands lifted to the back of his head, a wide grin splitting his features. “So, where's your kid? You married Sakura-chan, right?” the younger asked, desperately hoping that the answer was a resounding 'yes'”
“Sorry, kiddo. We found someone way better than Sakura-chan.” replied the older. “She's the most perfect woman in the world.”
Just as the words came forth from his mouth, they arrived at a particularly large mansion. Its gate was large and colored white, massive metalwork which towered over the two Narutos, accentuated with a large spiral at its centre. The scarlet fence which was attached to the gate on either side was high, standing tall in defense of the extravagant home. It was also decorated with a number of large white spirals, which were equally spaced across the brick wall. The building itself was not completely visible from outside, however, what little could be seen but absolutely magnificent. Its roof was mainly visible, made of beautifully carved stone tiles which were magnificently curved as they rested atop the large house. At the centre of the roof, a spiral was etched into the stone. From the outside, only the highest floor could be seen. The rest of the house was obscured by the high fence. The main house itself had white colored exterior walls and red window frames.
“Beats our little apartment, doesn't it?” asked the older. The younger was awestruck, his jaw hanging quite low, leaving his mouth agape. His eyes remained widened and the rest of his petite frame was frozen still in utter shock. The older nudged on the boy's small shoulder, snapping him out of his daze.
“Y..Yeah.” he managed to mutter. His eyes then widened, as if he suddenly remembered something of grave importance. “One question though, why so many spirals?”
Older Naruto smiled. “It's a monument to the Uzumaki clan. The Fire Daimyo built the place. One of many rewards for the hero of the Fourth Great Ninja World War. There's even a room which contains the treasures masks of the Uzumaki clan.” he explained.
“Huh?”
“Yeah, we have a clan. There was a war. I'll tell you all the details later. Let's go in.” the older walked over to the gate and formed half the tiger seal. The massive gates slowly swung open with a resounding creak, providing entry into the spectacular abode.
The young lad could now see every wonderful aspect of the spectacular edifice. It had three floors, a massive front yard with a lush green carpet of grass. There was also a large fountain which featured a stone fox with nine tails, water cascading downwards from each tail and from its open mouth. The 12 year old lad was still taking in the splendid sight when they were instantly surrounded by a number of ANBU. The masked agents, who spotted cream-colored robes, seemed to appear out of nowhere, startling the child.
“Welcome back, Hokage-sama.” greeted one of them, the colour of his robe different from the rest. Clearly, he was the leader. His hair was hidden behind his hood and his face obscured by a white mask which resembled the face of a dog.
“Ah, Captain Takagi.” responded the older Naruto, a wide grin etched on his face.
“Hokage-sama, you're not supposed to say my name.” corrected the ANBU, exasperation clear in his voice which made it apparent that this was not the first time he has had to caution Naruto. “Anyways, Hinata-sama has been waiting. She was worried that you didn't come home last night.”
Both of the young Naruto's eyebrows shot up, and his eyes widened, completely taken by suprise at the familiar named that the ANBU mentioned. “Hina...” he began to mutter but was rudely cut off by his older self.
“Idiot Takagi! You ruined the suprise!” thundered the twenty two year old Sixth Hokage in child-like fury.
“Um....what? Uh, I'm sorry.” apologized the ANBU, confused by the sudden burst of anger.
“No need to be so harsh Naruto-kun.” a soft, velvet voice reprimanded the blonde from behind the gathered ANBU. The tall cloaked figures prevented the younger Naruto from seeing who the voice belonged to, however, he could somewhat recognize it. There was really only one individual he knew that had such a silky voice, though he was more used to a stuttering, flustered version of it. The team of ANBU parted as they turned to face the individual, now allowing the young lad to behold her as well.
Hinata's rich blue hair was unmistakable, though it was noticeably longer. Her eyes were lavender, the absence of color in them a distinct trait of the powerful dojutsu that dwelled in each socket. Her gaze was warm and calm and she wore a slight smile. A white kimono draped the rest of her frame and her feet were clad in red slippers. Most distinct of her appearance was the small child that she carried with great care in her arms.
“Hinata-chan! I missed you!” hollered the Sixth Hokage. “Just one night being away from you and little Jiraiya-chan was unbearable!”
“Then why didn't you come home?” she asked, her face still brightened by a soft smile.
“I was...er...working on that jutsu.” he explained, his voice shrill as he nervously scratched the back of his head. “Anyways,” he hurried over to Hinata, “I wanna play with Jiraiya-chan!”
“He's sleeping. Let him rest. He barely got any sleep last night, he kept asking where his dad was.”
“Ah, I'm so sorry! I'm sorry! Don't worry, I'll make it up to him, his fourth birthday's coming around right?”
The younger Naruto watched this interaction, shocked and amused at the same time. He was still trying to comprehend the fact that he and the shy, introvert Hinata were united in holy matrimony.
“Not so loud Naruto-kun, you'll wake him up.” she cautioned softly.
The child in her arms suddenly sneezed, the small action drawing the attention of both Naruto and Hinata, their faces twisting into worried expressions. His small hand lifted towards his face and gently rubbed his eyes.
“Oh, no. I woke him up! What have I done?!” exclaimed the blonde, his voice loud and anxious as well as amusing to those who watched his interaction with his wife. The ANBU broke into a cacophony of exasperated sighs and the younger Naruto barely resisted a chuckle. He did however smile ever so slightly.
“See, I told you!” yelled Hinata, her voice becoming flustered, now gently running her fingers through the boy's scarlet mop of hair. Just then the child twisted his head, to look at the twenty two year old, his bulging lavender eyes coming into view.
“Dad?”
