He was Kabuto Yakushi's second strongest reincarnated shinobi since he noted that he'd have to bring out his trump card after he was sealed. Fukasaku, The Old Toad That Naruto used against The 6 Paths of Pain and usually was called "Pa", stated that without understanding Pain's power, no one could defeat him. Even Obito noted that Nagato was invincible.

Don't try and say that Itachi "solo'd" him: Nagato was fighting two of the strongest Jinchuuriki and owning them at the same time.

Edo Itachi is stronger than Edo Nagato. Constant full Susano'o and spamming Amaterasu, Yasaka Magatama and Tsukuyomi is something normal Itachi can't do, which is why normal Itachi < Nagato. But Edo Itachi > Edo Nagato.

All he needed was more Chakra to get some of his Health back.

It's true.. nagato (((( aint soloable ))) by anybody... he was too overpowered.. that's why kishi ended he's way the way it's ended.. sealed by totsuka. and he admited it himself.. he didnt even want to fight naruto in the first place in any time... this fact even proves when kabuto used nagato he didnt know all he's moves,techs and secrets ( he's leg's were crippled by danzou in earlier arc ) he is definitly the second strongest ( atleast ) shinobi in edo tensei.. no fanboyism.. just proper logic.. kishi had he's reasons to end nagato's way it was meant to be. add + ( who ever says that itachi can beat nagato is a pure fanboy, itachi has no answer against nagatos brute power and many years of intelligence.. just face it.. the reason nagato was terminated before itachi was that kishi wanted to told us that nagato was too overpowered to keep going on the series... itachi and the sasuke uchiha were more ( popular character) in the first place...

Nagato would Universal Pull Itachi towards him and use his Soul Removal before Itachi even got his Susano'o up.

You forget Edo Itachi needed Naruto and Bee's help. Edo Nagato would have defeated Itachi with Chibaku Tensei. And while Itachi can spam those techs, Nagato can spam his. One village-sized Shinra Tensei and Itachi is done for.
