IMHO, if Tsunade and Mei were to fight, I'd say it would be 50/50. Your underrating Mei. And I dont think she's as slow as everyone makes her out to be, although her lava jutsu are kind of slow. But I dont see she couldn't use her boil release to keep Tsunade away, especially is an enclosed area. She could just keep topping up the mist.

Tsunade just has more speed feats that make her faster. And boil release is only really useful indoors. the manga has made it obvious mei is the weakest.

And not to forget about Tsunades stamina it is beast and her life force
Still cut in half she is still alive and plans on healing the kages who are nearly dead
So in a death match tsunade wont be taken out so easy either by mei or raikage

Boil release only being useful indoors is a misconception. And I dont think the manga has made it obvious that Mei is the weakest. She has no back story...she gives up easily...so what? To me that doesnt show she's the weakest. I honestly think their about equal. I think we should just agree to disagree.

The boil release is debatable but I see it as more defensive as it won't have the speed to be some instant kill. And these are the traits kishi gives to weaker characters. And she was the first defeated by the susanoo clones.

The point is she would have a hard time even doing a single jutsu considering tsuande doesn't have to weave shit to move faster than her techniques.

Better speed feat than anything mei has done.

Mei's lava is slow. It has no good speed feats. Keeping others at bay will just delay the inevitable. tsunade works with what she has and is much better than mei. She has better speed than mei and has katsuyu for long range.

lol i dont see the speed feat in your examples, she attacked mei from the sky, something that ANY shinobi in a 1v1 would notice.

1. Katsuyu just makes for a bigger target, the summoning would hinder rather than help her. And i already told you that boil release can be her defense along with hiddem mist, Both would keep tsunade at bay while mei spamms lava release. (boil release is shown to melt susanoo, something that even her lava release cant effectively do, meaning that it would damage tsunade enough for her to back off)

3. Manga has shown that mei has two kekkei genkai, how many other people in the manga have two? that "lava puddle is huge idk if you even looked at my scans but they proved 2 things

-that mei can use lava release with 1 hand sign

-& mei can use lava release at an incredibly far distance, further than any tecnique that tsunade has shown with all of her screen time

Conclusion: tsunade cant get close enough before mei uses lava release & once lava release is set mei creates the gap that she needs in order to use boil release.

1. yeah she has good chakra reserves/strength but that alone doesnt make for a good shinobi (well at least not a kage level, all other kage's are faster than her) dont get me wrong tsunade is kage level but she's not on par with the kage level ninja
2. byakugou doesnt save her from being scorched/melted my lava
3. katsuyu just makes tsunade a bigger target for lava release
4. not really useful because mei's killing jutsus are 1-shot anyways

Katsuyu is mega reistent she survived chibaku tensei and narutos chakra plus she can survive the heavenly transfer jutsu of mabui wich is said that anyone dies and will ripped to shreds
